"I'll take off my shirt if you'll join our WCG team!" Hmm... now..... which chat rooms do you go to? Besides, most people are more concerned about keeping this bear's shirt on! I decided to start a team thread, and just welcome people to the team, primarily so people would know that the team existed. Well, it helped. When I was looking at teams, the facts that Gay US members were active in generating daily points, and that there was some kind of forum thread, were key to my joining. But, the fact that the "captain" had been AWOL for over 6 months was an honest concern of mine. I did notice he hadn't returned points for many months, and had you not had a forum tread, I may had just kept looking elsewhere. I'd actually looked at the HRC team that had recently been created, but at that time there was no activity going on at all, it only had 1 or 2 members who weren't doing diddly, and there were no forum postings. Had scubadoo gotten rolling with his team a little earlier, I could have joined HRC instead of Gay US. Then, regardless of teams... the important thing is the crunching. -j |

Same here. The only reason I found this team was due to this thread. I assumed that boy was the team captian since he was the only one doing anything to promote the team and welcome new members.
I'n not really sure if HRC is even promoting their team. I have not seen mention of it on their web site. With only seven members to date, it looks like they are catching those who scan the team lists. Scubadoo, like J, appears to have data center type power at his disposal. He is carrying the team (and out processing J by about 30%) Oh yeah, J, you can take your shirt off any time you like. ![]() |

(and out processing J by about 30%) Unfortunately, I can't use all my systems for crunching. I've got a few dozen systems that actually get used for work. And... due to the nature of the work, they can't run a grid client. Is it even possible to oust a person from the "captain" position? I'd think that someone that hasn't been on for 9 months could be replaced. Oh yeah, J, you can take your shirt off any time you like. -J |

I guess with my time spent checking for new members, and our team standings, (not to mention any time on the webcam. ) I really haven't checked out the new teams... Too bad scubadoo hadn't joined our team, It probably would have put us up there with IBM around the #3 position in daily points. Does anybody know if he has a webcam? |

I am assuming that scubadoo is affiliated with HRC and that the processing power he is weilding could even be from HRCs own data centers. I am really not that concerned the captain (cpto) does not post or interract in the team forum, but I do feel that the position should at least crunch. Nine months of inactivity indicates to me that he is either unable or not interested in crunching here. I do think that the first step is to have an admin attempt email contact and see if cpto is interested in either returning or relinquishing the position. |

Where I come from, that sounds like you just volunteered for an action item. - j |
