Hi at all,
----------------------------------------I've got the following problem: if I try to exit the program I can't as nothing appears, if I right-click on the tray icon. So I also can't click on "Exit". Is this a known bug? Does anybody have an idea how I could solve it? I'm running Win XP Home SP2 and downloaded the program just yesterday. Thanks for your help in advance! ![]() |

Hi gaddagah --
This is not a bug. The program was designed this way. The only way to end it is as follows: Right click on the System Tray at the bottom of the screen and open Task Manager Go to the Processes page and click on WCGrid_Rosetta.exe or WCGrid_AutoDoc.exe (depending on which project you are currently running. Click on End Process at the bottom of that box This will kill the program To restart: Go to Start/Programs/World Community Grid Double click on WorldCommunityGrid Agent and when the program restarts, as long as you are connected to the web, you will receive a new work unit. |

I may be wrong in understanding what gaddagah means, but, I am able to right click the tray icon on both the machines I use, get a menu with open, snooze help and exit.... 1 machine with XP Home and the other XP Pro, both with SP2, this has always worked for me!

Just to clarify
----------------------------------------If you need to close the program down for whatever reason you click on the little down arrow on the end of the toolbar on the "home" page (The one with the little house) this will minimise the program to the system tray. If you then right click on the WCG green stripey Icon in the system tray and select exit you have safely closed down the agent and the next time you launch it you will resume from almost where you left off (bar a few minutes since the last data save checkpoint) If you kill the application within Task Manager that work unit is aborted and when you launch it again it the program will download a new work unit from the WCG. Please don't do this as all the CPU time you have given to the previous work unit will be lost and you will not get any credit for it as no useful work has been achieved and that work unit will have to be allocated to another cruncher. Sorry to tread on anyone's toes just needed to iron out any misunderstanding Happy Crunching Dave ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by David Autumns at Nov 24, 2005 10:33:14 PM] |
