Re: Stuck Tasks

Thanks for the comments Al.

I've been running BOINC for years (2yr on this machine, 6+ on previous machine)... I've not seen this level of problems. So, it is a "new" issue.

> What hardware (CPU, memory capacity)?

Asus Z790 Hero, i9 14900k, 64 gb Nvidea (Asus) RTX 4050ti 12 gb

> What O/S?

Win 11 24H2

> What BOINC client?

8.2.8

> How many "CPUs" is BOINC allowed to use?

80%

> Is the CPU time set at below 100% (and if so, why)?

100%

> Is "Leave applications in memory" set (and if not, why not)?

Yes

> Is work being done for non-WCG projects as well?

Yes. Einstein, SiDock (also but not currently active: Rosetta, gpugrid, Dennis, LHC)

And FAH (4 CPU + GPU)

No throttling (except a peak loading with other apps).

Resource mgr reports Mem utilization around 75%

Fans OK (Argus monitor)

> look in the BOINC slots directory for tasks that seem stuck at 0.5%.

Nothing stuck right now (I aborted the last batch), but will look if it recurs.

Re: Stuck Tasks

Richard,

Thanks for the detailed list! I note that your CPU has performance cores and efficiency cores; I've seen occasional comments in various places about scheduling oddities that can happen with those CPUs, but I've no personal experience (mostly Ryzens here, and Linux, not Windows...); if that might be relevant, someone else might be able to comment...

Hope things run o.k. when we start getting work again :-)

Cheers - Al.
