Al

There are 2 main scenarios where crunching is wasted - where machines cannot get enough units to keep them busy and where resends are being crunched alongside their predecessors.

As we are only 3 months away from supposedly getting the upgrades working, I was assuming that the bigger/faster machines would be able to fill up so their spare capacity would be fully utilised. That leaves the redundant copies which I was referring to.

I believe that they are unable to release enough units to satisfy the larger/faster machines much before July so making adjustments for those machines would not be appropriate.

Mike

PS. I note that TLD's set up would take 6.75 days to clear.

At the moment the I3 host has 7 tasks estimated time of compleation 5hr 4min 42sec

The app_config.xml allows 2 ARP WUs to be run at a time and WCG gets a total of 9 slots including the ARP WUs.

The profile for the I3 allows 2 ARP WUs and 8 MCM tasks.

I simply took the 9 ARP units that you allow to be downloade and divided by 2 for the maximum number of ARP units to give 4.5 for the number of pairs of units and multiplied by 1.5 for the time taken for each pair = 6.75 being the theoretical time it would take your i3 to crunch a full cache.

If you read my post a little closer you will see that the profile at WCG the I3 is working under only allows 2 ARP WU at a time.

That is assuming the profiles are working.. lol

I did, hence the division by 2. I would suggest that you reduce the maximum cache from 9 to 8 in order to stay within the dadline of 6 days.

Mike, I don't allow 9 ARP WUs, I allow 2 ARP WUs as set in the profile at WCG.
The other slots are used by MCM WUs which take around 4 houra each on that machine.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

I hope everyone is getting the WUs they want.

MCM is flowing well, and I'm getting all I ask for.

ARP flow has increased. My cache of ARP (1 day) is full. I'm so happy to be crunching ARP at full capacity for my one desktop machine. My mac is now matching better and getting less invalids. I wonder if the techs tweaked who I'm paired with.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

MCM flow is good.

ARP new WU generation doesn't seem to be on right now. I'm only getting resends.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

From the Operational Status page:

    April 17, 2025
  • MAM1 Windows 64-bit build released in application version 7.04: We were able to resolve the memory safety issue around checkpointing and shared memory for the graphics application, and released a new version of MAM1 with the Windows x86_64 build. It is currently running on several Windows 10, Windows 11, and one Windows Server 2022 client. We will start sending larger batches that process more signatures, and use more stringent cross validation once the initial batch sent out to confirm the fix comes back with no or low error rate.
  • Beta Batch MAM1_9800037 Released to Test Fix to Windows 64-bit Build: Another small batch of 100 workunits has been released with MAM1 7.04 based on the previous batches MAM1_9800035 and MAM1_9800036, which all returned without an error (208 workunits with some variation in code paths, number of signatures etc. amont the higher numbers).
  • Graphics Images Display Issues in version 7.02-7.04: Users may notice that the TGA files that form the background of the composite image on which the chromosome map is rendered, and also the container for the chromosome map, are rendered differently between Linux and Windows and they are out of position. We will be iterating on the graphics as we progress through the beta, but our focus is on working builds for a maximum number of architectures and optimizing and stabilizing the singature permuation, SVM training, and signature evaluation code.
  • ARP1 Stuck Extremes, low throughput: Now that we have Windows and Linux builds for MAM1, we will be able to spend some time trying to reproduce and resolve the ARP1 extreme generations that are no longer progressing, and start increasing throughput for ARP1 in general.
