I assume that you are trying to install the standard Windows agent, not the new BOINC agent. Here are 2 possible problems:
DEP http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=1297#6096 McAfee VirusScan 8.0 http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=347 What sort of system are you trying to install on? What security programs does it run? |

If you are attempting to attach the BOINC agent to the World Community Grid system (since you are already registered) then you can get your account key here:

OK I did as the first link suggested, and that did not make any change. I have tried to find McAfee VirusScan 8.0 on my computer no luck. I am using Windows XP Home, AMD 3400, 1GB of memory, it has Nortons as the Firewall and Anti-virus. You will have to excuse me as this is my first Windows computer. So I am still working my way around. My question would be where do I find if I do have McAfee VirusScan 8.0 on my system.?

When I "Attach to new Project" I get "can't resolve hostname[https] host name not found. Scheduler request failed HTTP insert -113 Scheduler request initialzation to http://secure worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/wcg_cgi/lcgi failed, error -113 init_op_project failed, error -113" |

Hi carpinus,
You are using BOINC. Error -113 is explained in the Wiki. It means there is an incompatibility. For us, it usually means that you are using a version of BOINC before 5.2.4. That is when they implemented the Secure Socket Layer protocol for encrypted communication that our server requires. So you need to upgrade BOINC. I believe that the most recent version is 5.2.7. Usually, if you 'Show hidden icons' in your system tray at the right bottom of your screen, you can find your antivirus program and double-click it to find what it says. mycrofth |

All is now working fine. Thank you so much for your time. I can now crunch the data for both projects. |
