According to the system requirements MCM supports ARM procesors for Android but not Linux. Are there any plans to support this for linux? I have a few devices just waiting for work. Alternatively is there a way for a linux device to report as android (which is linux based after all)?

According to the system requirements MCM supports ARM procesors for Android but not Linux. Are there any plans to support this for linux? I have a few devices just waiting for work. Given the funding constraints under which WCG is operating, I don't think there is any prospect of ARM Linux support for MCM for the foreseeable future. I've run MCM on various types of single board computer using Android, but you obviously can't do that if you need to run Linux for other reasons.Alternatively is there a way for a linux device to report as android (which is linux based after all)? Not that I'm aware of (but I'm no expert). |

Can you try using a BOINC container maybe? Or even a full-blown ARM Linux VM with BOINC installed, hoping the overhead doesn't hurt performance too much.

Regarding native-mode ARM applications for MCM1...
In 2020 the MCM1 July and October Beta Tests had a 32-bit ARM Linux binary amongst the tested options. There was no final feedback on what happened to the Betas in general, let alone whether the ARM application passed the test :-( In the post announcing the July Beta, it was acknowledged that the ARM code might not go into production so one has to presume there was something amiss with it... So some initial work has been done by WCG-IBM; whether it is feasible for new WCG to pick up on that when they haven't got lots of other fires to fight remains to be seen... Cheers - Al. |
