I for one would not mind if streaks suddenly disappeared from my overview page. Streaks are pretty useful in telling how long it has been since the last system outage.Cheers ![]() ![]() |

it's a sad state of affairs when we're dismissing a relatively recent feature as "useless".

we tried to tell them how stupid it was when they first gave us the "update"...that and the stupid color change of the badges. at least we got higher badges out it. I will always feel that it was a subtle sabotage of IBM to the move to WCG, to introduce this unwanted change right before the move.

Yeah, I and many others were put on that "moderated posts" list by caitilarkin because of that crap they introduced. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 2 times, last edit by bluestang at Feb 12, 2024 8:41:11 PM] |

Feeder is down again ...
----------------------------------------2/17/2024 11:28:09 AM | World Community Grid | Server error: feeder not running Is keeping WCG up and running really this difficult? Please don't tell me it's resources and money. They're running only one project! MCM ran fine for years under IBM's watch. What changed? One project can't be too hard to support.

As far as I understand, they're a small outfit and they didn't get IBM's backend infrastructure. You could always offer to do it yourself, if it'd be that easy to support.

I think they are doing their best and the system stability is getting better. I have just downloaded some units so the feeder error might have been a temporary issue.

As far as I understand, they're a small outfit and they didn't get IBM's backend infrastructure. And we're supposed to give them a pass? There's been constant issues since the transition. Some of them big issues (storage array dying). New issues are popping up (assimilators, feeders, network errors) and other issues have been happening for months (missing devices). We should be seeing improvement as time goes on. That hasn't been the case. No money or resources is just an excuse. You could always offer to do it yourself, if it'd be that easy to support. Thanks for the suggestion. Many people have offered to help. They don't want anyone to help them. Their "Tech Team" would be participating in these forums if they wanted help. I increased my caches last night to avoid outages this weekend and while I was looking for GPUs for Folding@Home the network goes down.
