Can a tax exempt nonprofit support this project?

I have a nonprofit that I would like to use for distributed computing projects on WCG like this. From what I understand, as a tax exempt nonprofit, I cannot support for-profit research. I am hoping that doing this for other nonprofit organizations will be okay. What I am unclear about is if there are any beneficiaries or organizations from on this project that will be a conflict of interest and violate tax exempt status.

Re: Can a tax exempt nonprofit support this project?

Hi,

Thank you so much for your support! WCG is a nonprofit organization. All of our projects are academic, not commercial, and we are run from research funds. You can read more on our About page.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions about the WCG!

Re: Can a USA tax exempt nonprofit support this project?

Since there was a transfer from IBM to Krembil, will the Canadian nonprofit have different ramifications regarding how tax-emempt nonprofits in the United States can offer support?
Does WCG have any US nonprofit extension?
I guess I may need to be looking for some other projects on the BOINC, which is a bummer.

Hi,

You can probably also contact David Anderson over at Boinc Forum . He started the work on Science United . As far as I know there are no projects yet. But maybe he will be interested in working with you and it is a US project.
