My Linux systems have full queues, but my Windows system has been dry for a while.

There have not been enough MCM WUs since 11/28/2023, probably even since around 11/18/2023, you can see that on the amount of returned results. If the servers can keep up with the demand, there are 1.3-1.4 millions MCM results returned to the project, if it's less, than they can't. I bookmarked that page, it's as close as we can get to a server status page here, does not show the current state, only the past, but better than nothing. The odd thing is that, if you go back to the IBM period, the number of WUs rarely went over the current 800-900k level. PS, do we know why the global stats show 800-900k / day whilst the Project Status thread shows 32-33k / day? [Edit 1 times, last edit by Bryn Mawr at Dec 27, 2023 11:41:44 AM] |

The odd thing is that, if you go back to the IBM period, the number of WUs rarely went over the current 800-900k level. But, back then, there were multiple projects running at the same time (OPN, MCM, ARP and some HSTB), whereas at the moment there is only MCM.PS, do we know why the global stats show 800-900k / day whilst the Project Status thread shows 32-33k / day? The Project Status thread was put together by Unixchick, with assistance from Headcrash and others. It is based on figures from WUProp, so shows only a fraction of the actual WUs. But it is the nearest approximation we have to a real-time server status page, given that WCG doesn't have one.Cheers, Mark |

We are here to help them - not the other way round! Mike But WCG doesn't seem particularly interested in our help. Yes, I will mothball all my crunchers, permanently. Bye everyone. ![]() ![]() |

Bye NixChix.
You have a nice badge collection. Thank you for all the WUs you crunched ! While I don't think WCG needs my machine to do much right now, as they have more volunteer computer power than they can use, I am sticking around to see the ARP project to the end. Come back to visit now and then to see if you want to rejoin. If not... thanks for all the WUs you did ! |

Oh my, I'd never seen NixChix and Unixchick in the same room before until now. I guess that's proof they're two different people. I was worried.

So if IBM had 800,000 WU's for four hours each, and we now have 800,000 WU's taking 2 hours or less, it's suddenly a significant difference in the amount of work. |

Well, it's pointless to compare with the numbers back than. In addition to different WUs, there might have been other amount of active projects, different amount of active users and the computers were also not the same as today. So better compare to more recent days when we had WUs for the current "e55b6bdba4ed0b4b6e315c6767d68e3f.txt" database and not the old "mcm1.dataset-sarc1.txt". And than the sudden drop by half million WUs per day (!), that happened during the 2nd half of November is clearly visible and can't be explained by anything else than struggling servers.![]() |
