Well, sad to say but I think I'm done with WCG.
Good luck everyone, but I'll give my computer time to other, more reliable projects. |

Well, sad to say but I think I'm done with WCG. I have conidered that, but my other favorite projects are bad too: climateprediction, denis, rosetta. universe and einstein are pretty good abut supplying work. ![]() |

OMG!
I'm using BOINC for heating and there's already -5C outside. Winter is coming. Come on! Do you want me to freeze without any work for my hosts? |

OMG! I'm using BOINC for heating and there's already -5C outside. Winter is coming. Come on! Do you want me to freeze without any work for my hosts? We could be sisters! You can attach another project with a resource share of 0, it will then fill the gaps without creating a waiting queue. Einstein@home works well for me but there are others if searching for Pulsars is too basic for you. ![]() |

WCG down, Denis has no work units, Rosetta has no work units. Don't like Sidock because of the 1-2 day crunch time per work unit.
Guess I am going to start shutting down. |

The absolute LACK of any communication from WCG is appalling!
----------------------------------------The website was down a day or so ago for at least 8 hours before WCG even posted a message on Twitter. As of about 16 hours ago, I (and everyone else) are not receiving any work, we can't upload results, etc. AND NO COMMUNICATION FROM WCG. I get that that people may not "be working" on the weekends, but surely this stuff is all hosted in the cloud so the WCG team does not need to go anywhere such as drive to a datacenter. Morevoer, someone, somewhere within WCG should have gotten an alert that essentially WCG is 100% down and therefore acted with some kind of urgency! I just invested in a few more pcs that arrived today and now what?! Do I give up on WCG and send them back? I'm so mad and disgusted right now. The lack of appreciation for us volunteers is deplorable. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by ericinboston at Dec 3, 2023 7:05:35 PM] |

In regards to "do I give up on WCG" and "send your hardware back" that is completely your call no one else can make it. In regards to "Tiger Lily and the technical team" from my point of view they do a wonderful job with the resources they have while maintaining the "MCM project". ![]() |

The absolute LACK of any communication from WCG is appalling! Indeed. We don't know about the actual problem. Could be as easy as turning it off and on again, could need a couple days to identify and resolve. There's a chance that they are working on it but datacenter techs are generally not known for their communication skills. We just provide the means for others. I just invested in a few more pcs that arrived today and now what?! Do I give up on WCG and send them back? Attach a different project with a resource share of 0 to fill the gaps. I'm on Einstein@home. If you don't like that, there's a list in post #691836 you can check out. I'm so mad and disgusted right now. The lack of appreciation for us volunteers is deplorable. Well, we don't do it for the appreciation, do we? ![]() |

Well, we don't do it for the appreciation, do we? I certainly do not offer my computers for appreciation. But that does not take from the fact that WCG is beyond terrible at communications and timely communications which directly reflects their level of appreciation. In a world where we have email, website outage pages, website forums, Event Logs in our local clients, error message ability on the client itself, Twitter, Facebook, and a myriad of other ways to communicate with us volunteers, it is inexcusable to communicate nothing. ![]() |
