Re: Hello, is there anyone here?

New to this project/wcg. I would love to see the balance sheet for this organization. Yeah it's tough when there are a bunch of volunteer's on all sides and a shoe-string budget. Communication is critical to keep people/teams interested. Even if its not good news.....communicate. When an organization this small cant even do that, one has to question the integrity of other things. There are a few projects I really like here and would like to stay as I add more cpu's but am feeling the frustration already the same way some powerhouse members are who appear to know more about what the issues/fixes are better than the WCG team. Who is in charge? WCG needs to take a serious look at how things are run, make it more efficient and communicate!

That idea has been said ad nauseam. At this point their communication efforts are about as effective as trying to shovel rainwater with a pitchfork. Probably due to the broken shoestring on which this project is being run.

In the meantime, I just crunch on because I believe eventually the cancer project(s) will help somebody.

Cheers

Re: Hello, is there anyone here?

I see your point and will likely do the same. I though have a long history of getting things done with "less than efficient" organizations and will offer to fly there and chat once I get a system built up and spend a ton of time really digging into the corporate side of WCG. Shouldn't be necessary, but simply too much dead wood in this project already

Re: Hello, is there anyone here?

Since this is a new year let me put a positive spin on it.

For quite some time a while ago, weekends were scary. We would have to scramble around other projects to keep our machines fed because WCG would always have some incident and there was no one there until the next Monday.

Well it has been stable for some time now and we have gone through the holiday season with no glitches. Isn't that a feel good story?

I probably jinxed it and something will break Friday just to spite me.

Funding is what would solve many problems at WCG and WCG is most probably not high on UHN Foundation's list.

Re: Hello, is there anyone here?

Glad to hear there is some good news. All have more experience than I do here. Throwing money at a broke system is never a good idea. My take so far is a serious lack of communication. Communication is free, yet it seems to be a never ending issue. Too many people put too much time/effort/money into donating a valuable resource and when that goes unrecognized/unappreciated, that resource will simply walk away. I'm all for win-win scenario's, not lose-lose.
