I keep wondering why I keep all of these computers switched on. Or even why I have them in the first place. Why no work? Why no status updates? Surely there is at least one person on the other end of this line who could spare a moment to let us know what is going on every day or so. The users have asked for this a number of times but the communication continues to be sparse at best. Cheers

Once again the silence is deafening. Cheers Unscheduled website downtimes, unexpected interruption of work unit flow, unresolved issues with adding devices, 2 years after WCG was handed over to Krembil some basic topics are still unresolved, no communication with the large base of volunteers by admins. My take: WCG is dying these days. |

I keep wondering why I keep all of these computers switched on. Or even why I have them in the first place. I just keep wondering why people don't set up backup projects or simply additional projects for which they enable work fetch when their main project(s) are out of work. That's part of the idea behind BOINC, one client for all projects instead of project specific clients. Instead of whining I'm crunching Einsteins FGRP5 now.![]() |

RE: Backup Projects...
That's what I'm doing. My machines are crunching on Denis (EKG-diagrams) and Asteroids (spin/rotation of those planet-killers). Denis always comes in spurts (its Server Status page shows no new WU's for the weekend until they load the queue, generally Monday afternoon). I allowed one machine to pull Einstein, but it wanted to tie-up every CPU with huge WU's lasting 1-2 days apiece, so stayed with the others. There's plenty of work available in BOINC-land until WCG comes back... |

Same here. Can obtain backup work from einstein@home or asteroids@home within seconds of enabling them. They also keep four of my raspberry pi systems busy now there is no longer any WCG work for them.

Well, the forum seems up again. Apparently, this is THE monday. Great. Now an explanation about what happened would be very welcome, please?

Instead of whining I'm crunching Einsteins FGRP5 now.I’m currently signed up to 5 projects and I’m getting work from 2 of them - WCG is definitely one of the most reliable in supplying work (but, sadly, not at telling us what’s going on). My take: WCG is dying these days. I'm optimistic (but yeah, still get frustrated). WCG really just needs funding. Lots and lots more funding from corporate sponsors. $$$. I get it. Look at massive projects with corporate sponsors like Folding@home. I wish WCG would get the same considering they have quite a few reputable research institutions affiliated over the past 20 years...
