Re: Incredibly Quick Deadline

Just an observation this morning. Upon checking my results in SCC I saw I am getting a larger than normal number of resends. In checking somewhat randomly through the resends I noted there appeared to be a disproportionate number listed as "Detached". Without exception they all listed Cent OS as the operating system. Could this be the same machine(s) which have been giving the very short running times and the quick due dates ?

Cheers

Cyclops:
We are looking into this and will comment a follow up if we find anything that can help you avoid this issue in the future.

Sorry Cyclops,
The issue is not about avoiding it nor trying to avoid it; the problem is that the Due Time is incorrect.

Re: Incredibly Quick Deadline

It looks like something for the good has been done to the Due times in tasks that were distributed to certain CentOS systems. Here are some examples:

… I discovered 68 more tasks — all of their names ending in _2 — in my queue. Looking at their workunits — all tasks that you receive (from the BOINC server) are part of a workunit — they all had a short Due Time for one of my wingmen:

How do we know that it is only one specific wingman? Because its OS-Version and its Due Times are quite specific:
     19 Due Time: 2024-10-03T05:06:50+0000
28 Due Time: 2024-10-03T05:06:51+0000
11 Due Time: 2024-10-03T05:06:52+0000
2 Due Time: 2024-10-03T05:06:53+0000
4 Due Time: 2024-10-03T05:06:54+0000
4 Due Time: 2024-10-03T05:06:55+0000
68 OS-Version: Debian GNU/Linux trixie/sid [6.1.0-25-amd64|libc 2.40]
(that's the final output of this command: grep -E OS-\|Due | sort | uniq -c)
