Do work units get uploaded before Windows 10 shutdown?

Two questions here, both about uploading work units.
1. -- do work units waiting to upload automatically upload when I shut down my Windows 10 computer? There's lots of things going on when I shut down but I'm wondering if downloading the work units is part of that. I can't tell if they upload when I start up again in the morning.
2. -- If they don't automatically upload before shutdown, is there any way I can manually cause them to do this? What happens if there are work units waiting to be sent when I shut my computer down before going on vacation? I don't want all that stuff to be wasted.
Thanks.

Re: Do work units get uploaded before Windows 10 shutdown?

1. probably not, I am not aware of a way for this to happen.
2. Select Transfers tab in BOINC manageer
If any transfers in progress, wait if possbile
If any transfers stuck, select them then click retry
To report completed work, select Tasks tab, note the projects for tasks ready to report then Select Projects tab, select projects from above, click update.

You can check in BOINC log what happens when, Ctrl-Shift-E IIRC.

Better to Hibernate than shut down as work will pick up where left off rather than at last checkpoint.

Paul.

Paul -- many thanks. I'll try Select Projects etc. the next time this becomes an issue.

2. Create a task in Task Scheduler. Something like "When a user logs off, run the BOINC Update command." This should work to automatically have Windows update BOINC when you shut down.

Re: Do work units get uploaded before Windows 10 shutdown?

The update only works for those ready to report. For those uploading, you need to go to the transfers tab and retry those queuing there. Then you can update in the projects tab.

As Paul said, it is better to sleep or hibernate rather than shut down so as not to lose all crunching since the last checkpoint. This is especially true for ARP1 where the checkpoints only occur at each 12.5% progress.

With ARP1 if you want to shut down then try to wait until the 12.5% mark has been passed by 0.020% as the exact 12.5% does not retain the data.
