Fewer (or shorter) upload requests means better upload behaviour!
Probably the same goes for downloads.

If there's another tranche of ARP1 or a big batch of OPNG sent out it'll probably start to bottleneck again :-( -- downloads first, then uploads as the quicker systems reply.
Exactly my thoughts!

These cyclic file transfer issues are likely to continue for as long as SHARCNET's request to WCG to reduce the number of connections remains in place and/or the servers don't have the capacity to handle the volume of requests.
That's the conclusion I think we can come to indeed.

As most of us have noticed, the flow of new ARP1s has stopped. The flow of OPNGs has halted, too: I've received quite a number of resends on the 6th of May, but the real (big) flow ended for me on the 5th (Friday evening). So the upload/download stalls/errors are mostly gone. It's a pity.
