What happened with Beta tests ?

What happened with Beta tests ?

We had experienced since the migration to Krembil structure, a lot of issues, serious problems, and many download of batches of tasks from active projects, but without any previous Beta tests, in order to try antecipated errors, and be preditive to fix and implement solutions, before put the productions batches in download from servers.

Since July/Auigust from last year we don't saw anyone morre.

In short: nothing yet. That is, it isn't time for them yet. Beta project tests are mostly used in combination with — and in advance of — a new project to get onboard the WCG. Sometimes Beta project tests are used to try and introduce something new in an existing project.

Cyclops said this in post 682245:
we are not completely back yet, as we have been busy solving user issues. We consider ourselves in a "testing phase" where BOINC is running like it was before but needs some time to [..] return to a state that resembles what it was like before the move to Krembil. You are still able to crunch workunits like usual (your experience will be vastly improved than it was in October), just with the ocassional server issue. We will make a large announcement when we feel we are in a position to announce we are "100% back".

You are correct, giba, this is not a normal situation. We need to be patient. coffee

Re: What happened with Beta tests ?

I suspect that Beta testing on us has not been appropriate because Beta testing is normally the last stage of introducing new projects on us.

What we seem to have been doing is using tested existing programs to test Krembil's systems which is very different. Maybe Beta testing of their systems, but not on our crunching of the programs.

There is a big difference between testing of the platform and testing of the individual programs.

Re: What happened with Beta tests ?

Beta testing is used as the second step in on boarding of new projects(after in house alpha testing). Since there has been no announced new projects, there has been no need for any beta testing. Also there has been no mention of any different software for any existing project. Hence - no Beta work.
Cheers
