Is there an estimated runtime for how long it would take to complete the entire Mapping Cancer Markers project? Just curious, thanks!

Is there an estimated runtime for how long it would take to complete the entire Mapping Cancer Markers project? Just curious, thanks! I remember asking this question many years ago, but never received an answer. It would be nice to know the potential scope of the project. But, in the defense of the researchers, there is a lot of different kinds of cancers and just how long they may want to pursue this line of research may ultimately be dependent on their level of funding and how long that may continue. Cheers

Thank you Ralf and Sgt.Joe for helping to answer the question. And sorry - if the question was posted years ago that we did not see it.
Dear kolleamm, The main focus of MCM project is to identify markers associated with various types of cancer. We have started with Lung cancer, then moved to Ovarian cancer and now working on osteosarcoma. These choices were strongly driven by their clinical importance, our research and our collaborations - to ensure results can be integrated with other information and moved to preclinical testing and clinical validation. Future expansion of this project still needs to be finalized. While we do have some candidates, we are preparing a platform where volunteers will be able to participate in decision making for the next focus area. However, due to taking on the responsibility of running the WCG, we had much less time for this.We need to expand the team (for which we need to expand the funding support). In addition to cancer, we are planning to cover other diseases - such as arthritis and neurodegeneration. It could not then run as MCM - but the code, data and strategy will be analogous. thank you for your interest and support Igor |
