And still no word on either the lack of workunits or what is being done to fix the issue.

And still no word on either the lack of workunits or what is being done to fix the issue. Yeah, looks like we are in for a new kind of treat from Krembil for the holidays.Cheers Another weekend, and yet another clusterf****, with the problem reported 10 days ago not even acknowledged. But still more silence from Krembil. I seriously can't understand what those guys just keep treating all the volunteers as dirt all the time.... ![]() ![]() Ralf ![]() ![]() |

I seriously can't understand what those guys just keep treating all the volunteers as dirt all the time.... ![]() Re 'being treated as dirt.' So everytime when they say "Thank you for your support, patience and understanding" (I see this, or something similar, all the time) you either don't see this or you fail to understand it? I don't interpret "Thank you for your support, patience and understanding" as 'being treated as dirt'. Adri |

Adri What you seem to forget every time is the whole timeline of the project since the announcement of Krembil taking over. It is 15 months since the announcement, 10 months since the shutdown, 6 months since resuming sending out WUs and still each and every week we have to deal with yet another major FUBAR. Yes, problems can, have and will occur with every project, but at some point, it is just not sufficient anymore to thank for "patience and understanding" when it looks that this is just posted to buy a bit more time until someone actually gets around to look into things. I know you have been mocking me about this, but back in the days of knreed and uplinger, it never took 3 days just to acknowledge an issue. It is already telling that in another thread, someone suggested that Cyclops (or someone on the actual tech team) is running WCG on BOINC themselves, so that they personally see when such issues occor, and the response is "oh, that's a great idea, let me forward this to the tech team:". Sorry, but I am working in IT myself in a long, long time, during which I have had to deal with a myriad of technical issues that needed external help/input to get resolved. And in all of that time, I got enough experience to tell if some is just pulling my leg... Ralf PS: There still has to be a statement to the DNS snafu last week that made EVERYTHING stop for a few hours, possibly just another "human error" like it happened with the certificates for the web site a couple of months ago. ![]() |

What you seem to forget every time is the whole timeline of the project since the announcement of Krembil taking over. I simply don't care about that timeline. That's why I "seem" to forget. Do you remember Cyclops' first post? It tells a lot. (Probably not enough for you.) I know you have been mocking me about this, but back in the days of knreed and uplinger, it never took 3 days just to acknowledge an issue. Oh, I'm sure there were issues that haven't been answered. Just search for "techs AND issue" and you will find one for sure, like I did; it was easy. It is already telling that in another thread, someone (that was Sgt.Joe)suggested that Cyclops (or someone on the actual tech team) is running WCG on BOINC themselves, so that they personally see when such issues occor, A few days before that I was wondering why Cyclops didn't have any badges, especially since… Do you remember one of the first posts made by Cyclops with a screenshot of running tasks in Boinc Manager? Now it may seem like a bad joke ![]() PS: There still has to be a statement to the DNS snafu last week that made EVERYTHING stop for a few hours, I didn't experience that. |

The post I made which is referenced in the quote in the previous post was one I made as a constructive suggestion, no less and no more. I try not to just criticize. I do bring up issues which I believe need to be addressed, but try not to go on and on about them. Just like many others, I find the various problems frustrating, but in the end it is the research which counts. I try to keep in mind this is a volunteer project and nobody is forcing me to contribute. I am in favor of better and more frequent information from the any member of the Krembil team who can shed light on the issues.
----------------------------------------Sometimes frustrated, but willing to stay the course. Cheers

OPNG workunits “The scientists are analyzing the available data to choose a set of protein conformations for the next rounds of molecular docking in GPUs. The focus is on PLPro, one of the SARS-CoV-2 proteases. The dockings will include covalent and non-covalent compounds.” I want you to consider the Apple Silicon Mac just a little bit. Because Apple Silicon Macs can't connect AMD, nVidia, and Intel GPUs, so you can't contribute even if you increase these GPU versions. If possible, I want the Apple Silicon native version of WU. At best, you would get a native M1 CPU app. Apple M1 GPUs stopped supporting OpenCL so you can forget about a GPU app. OK, I understand. World Community Gird NOT NEED Macintosh powers. World Community Gird ONLY NEED x64 powers. I go to Einstein@Home, Good-bye World Community Grid. |
