Re: New projects announcement ETA?

We have just one running with some stability (MCM) , So, not appear forme that are enough to keep all WCG crunchers working.

More projects won't increase stability, active ARP and OPN usually decreased the stability of the servers. Projects having just one active application are not that uncommon, so it isn't a real issue IMHO as long as there's a steady supply with work.

Re: New projects announcement ETA?

I think normally there's beta tests about 6 months or so before new projects launch. I havent seen any beta units in a very long time. maybe since OPNG?

Re: New projects announcement ETA?

Hi all, I think that we need new projects urgently. We have just one running with some stability (MCM) , So, not appear forme that are enough to keep all WCG crunchers working.
There are actually four (4) active projects on WCG, but for ARP1 and SCC, they are waiting to actually get work from the actual science projects. MCM1, and to some degree OPN1/OPNG have been distributing work, but then yet another feeder problem showed up in time for the weekend and still has to be fixed.

With such things happening repeatedly, it would not be wise to start anything new. First and foremost, the current system has to work reliably for any extended period of time...
If this scenario don´t change asap, many crunchers will continue jumping out from WCG. coffee idea
A lot already did. As Snurk in a different threat showed in a graphic, we barely process half of what has been before the shutdown a year ago...

Re: New projects announcement ETA?

i think the cryptocrash coinciding with the downtime also played a role in the decline of users.

BUT ... we're sort of keeping up with the work being given to us so more users at present time doesn't add much value.

Re: New projects announcement ETA?

The system has been down since March 1 due to a hardware failure. See https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,44980 for more details.

I would not worry about new projects until Krembil makes sure they have their entire act together on their existing projects.Of the the four existing projects, only MCM seems to be running unimpeded.

Re: New projects announcement ETA?

MCM is absolutely impeded. The feeder runs out of tasks on a regular basis.

Research labs can't stand still for years with nothing to show for it.
I think it's safe to assume the promised Parkinson's project is cancelled.

Admin rarely communicates other than to say they're trying their best and think they've solved the feeder problems this time, but hasn't accepted any offers of outside help nor have they solicited technical support from experienced members of the community. As far as we know, they're not in communication with the other biomedical BOINC teams. The Baker Lab runs Rosetta@home without major issues, perhaps they'd be able to diagnose these feeder issues.

OK, maybe I was being a bit optimistic. I should have qualified with "lately." I am still getting MCM seemingly without any problem. It is the only project, at the moment which seems to have work units, as many as I want. If there is s glitch in the MCM supply, it would be akin to WCG having no available work units.
Still waiting to hear any further news on SCC supply, or any of the other projects (ARP, TB, OPN).
Cheers
