Hi Bernzzii,
The first thing to do is to describe your system. What security programs does it run? What is the version number of your anti-virus software. When did it last update the virus definitions? How are you connected to the Internet. Have you run a virus scan recently? Have you rebooted recently? My first guess is that the WCG site is not infected (since this has never happened before) so we should start by looking elsewhere. mycrofth |

I just downloaded the Agent onto a computer running Symantec Norton Antivirus 2005 with virus definitions updated 2 Nov 2005. It is running well. All I can think is that something has gone wrong on your computer. What antispyware program do you run?

srvany.exe is an additional Microsoft Windows application which allows an executable to be ran as a service. This sounds like this is a false positive from the AV software.
I have scanned the WorldCommunityGridAgent.exe with NOD32 and latest signatures and it comes clean. As the exe file is really a WINZIP self executable, I have also extracted the 4 files within it (bootmsi.exe, udagent.msi, udagent01.cab and udagent02.cab) and checked them. They are clean as well. The udagent.msi file does contain the string SRVANY.EXE which is possibly what is triggering the AV. As the agent is not actually installed as a service and I don't have access to the source code, I cannot say why this is here. Also, please be aware that the executables within the archive are dated 29/04/2005. I am sure that we would have had other queries if there had been a virus in udagent.msi. |

when i try and download i get this message You are not permitted to download the file "WorldCommunityGridAgent.exe" because it is infected with the virus "SrvAny". Is this message coming from Symantec's Antivirus program or something else that your educational institution has in place? We have checked the agent download file and it has not changed in any way. Furthermore, when I scan it with Symantec Antivirus with latest updates, it gives no such message. |
