Re: Forum and website restart Question and Answers

Is this a good time to register new devices to WCG, or should I wait until WUs are flowing normally? Seems like the master.wcg.org issue is resolved

Re: Forum and website restart Question and Answers

Try. People including me have problems getting changes in default, home ect profiles to take effect so I hope that the default profile with default setting is good for you. But please try and report back.

Re: Forum and website restart Question and Answers

www.boincsynergy.com has nothing to do with the real Boinc Synergy at www.boincsynergy.ca [snip]
If it only happens while browsing this forum, then that's probably the explanation. If it happens while also browsing other sites, then the explanation could be something else, in the worst of case some malware on your computer. Delete your browsers cache and browsing history to begin with.

@ Grumpy Swede
Thank you for the clarification. I have only seen it occasionally on the forum, not elsewhere. Appreciate the advice!
Cheers
Phillip

Well, that never was a real issue.

But it might not hurt to wait until WCG is officially cleared "ready for production", though I have installed BOINC on 3 new devices since the shutdown and at least two of them got some of the test WUs runs just fine.

Re: Forum and website restart Question and Answers

Registered two new devices. Neither get WUs, sadly. I had to set my preferences manually (mostly CPU usage), which was fine - didn't seem like it loaded my profile ones.

Re: Forum and website restart Question and Answers

well, the WU's arent flowing yet to old devices either.

even when they fully restart, i imagine first days there'll be shortages with everyone's dry queues vacuuming everything up.

Re: Forum and website restart Question and Answers

They are working on the last of the bugs right now Tim. There are a couple of posts with updates like this one in the news section if you want specifics.

Re: Forum and website restart Question and Answers

Personally, I'm imagining that this process is/has been like IBM drove a 17 year old car onto Krembil's driveway, and it wasn't long before Krembil decided the best way to really discover exactly how it all worked, was to totally strip it down to the last nut and bolt, then to rebuild the car again - quite often, without instructions. I can imagine that there'll have been quite a few 'obsolete' and 'out of stock' parts which needed (or will need) replacing, but, by the sounds of it, Krembil's engineers have done a fantastic job of putting it all back together again, and got the engine running, but not quite ticking over smoothly...

Hopefully, everything will be in 'racing condition' in the very near future - then, it'll be full steam ahead (albeit, after a few other, inevitable snags have been discovered and resolved during the early laps).

Re: Forum and website restart Question and Answers

they're working on SOME bugs. I am sure they won't be the last of them. It's been the last of them since May.
