Re: Work unit availability

Even the new ones (4091, 4126) have low credits. Lower than most 36xx. ...
as said above, I am even more concerned about the many "invalids"

Re: Work unit availability

Well, either the researchers are still sending faulty batches, or these batches are actually containing exactly what they want to investigate. In the latter case, the app is incapable of running these batches, and it needs to be fixed and go back to Beta for a while.

I've basically stopped trying to get any more GPU work until we get any feedback from WCG. No use in wasting time and electricity on these "invalid" batches.

Both my GPU crunchers are turned off for now.

Re: Work unit availability

I've basically accepted that units are sporadic and might not work. Over all, though, it's been dynamite for my daily points, even with what little work I've received over the course of a day.

I have a page of invalid WUs as well, but had fewer yesterday than the day before. There a few more from today as well, but I have many more valid units than invalid. Once these misfit units get cleared out of the system, it should be even better.

Re: Work unit availability

When I'm home and micro managing I can weed out most of the tasks that will be declared invalid. 54 server aborted tasks yesterday while I was awake. 6 since last nights update and now when the machines were on their own (15 hours) and at least 47 more that would have gone server aborted if I had been home to monitor them that ran and were invalid. angry
Yes I'm OCD. cool

Re: Work unit availability

Not much house cleaning worth the name, when they are shoveling in new garbage batches all the time. More like keeping the garbage at a level where the house isn't overflowing with garbage smile

Well the low paying WU's are short runners. And the admin did state that the credit awarded was based on the amount of work required to finish the jobs in the WU.
I don't see anything alarming about the recent validated tasks. Short runners (20-25 seconds) are low paying and normal runners (55-65 seconds) are normal paying around ~500-1000 credits.

I don't think the conversion of WCG to BOINC credits is handled internally. I believe the conversion is handled externally by the stats aggregator websites.
