The what batch thread for CPU had guesses of this project being done in July. I have no idea how all this GPU processing will affect that, so I just want to make my year badge, before it is all done. Interesting... What I'm asking myself then: If the OPN1 project would be finished in July by simply using CPUs, why bother to put extra work and money into developing a GPU version for the project for relatively low gain? Will there be a second phase for the project perhaps? ![]() |

If all backlogged CPU work was pulled and reissued as GPU work, this project would go into 'intermittent' status within 24 hours. May be I was wrong with "relatively low gain"... ![]() |

What Unixchick likely read about July was an estimate of when we should have processed 50,000 batches of CPU work. When the project launched, it was said that each protein target (against which we are docking hundreds of millions of molecules to see which fit and disable viral processes, etc) would be about 50,000 batches long. However, there are many more targets and we were told by WCG that OPN was a "huge" project.
----------------------------------------So, no, the project isn't ending in July. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

Not sure if I'm just lucky but overall I'm getting more tasks in the past 24 hours than usual. Maybe uplinger already cranked it up a little bit.

Not a single OPNG unit since Sunday afternoon, and only a couple hours or so of total GPU crunching since the start. I don't want to join the script kiddie hordes just to get GPU units, so I'll just sit back. As long as the work gets crunched, I'm not going to worry about it. It's better for my electric bill if the GPU doesn't kick in. ![]() |

I generally get around 100 WU's/day for my GTX980/iGPU HD4600 computer. It's not even turned on 24 hours/day, but only about 12 hours/day.
----------------------------------------Then I get 10-15 WU's/day for my low level GTX660M computer, which is on 24 hours/day. I'm not using any scripts at all. So, I can't complain over lack of GPU work. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Grumpy Swede at Apr 13, 2021 5:58:52 PM] |

Wow Grumpy Swede!
----------------------------------------What's your secret? I'm getting between 0 and 2 a day across five 24/7 machines that are various Nvidia, AMD, and Intel iGPU. In general, I noticed that the computers only get GPU tasks during the day. [Edit 1 times, last edit by adict2jane at Apr 13, 2021 6:48:05 PM] |

So far today, 121 WU's for this computer. Edit: And another 5 for the GTX660M computer just came in. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Grumpy Swede at Apr 13, 2021 7:21:46 PM] |

According to BoincTasks, I have gotten 34 in the last 24 hours among 4 video cards/3 machines which are turned on 24 hours/day. 17 on the Nvidia one, 17 among the 3 iGPUs. I am not complaining though, the Nvidia is humming away for science regardless. ![]() |
