lol. and no different than all the WCG-specific signatures showing all their [EDITED] [EDITED]? Really? How many thousands of dollars do you think volunteers like me and others have spent to earn that "[EDITED]" signature or all the other badges volunteers have earned in the BOINC world? Non of this gets done for free but you know that and to disrespect what it takes to earn them is (fill in the blank) *walks away shaking head*
In 1969 I took an oath to defend and protect the U S Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and Domestic. There was no expiration date.

It's not entirely your fault since these forums don't leave proper redirects for quoted messages. I suggest you go back and read the entire context of the exchange. *hint* I wasn't in any way disrespecting you or anyone else with a signature showing their contributions. I was highlighting the absurdity of one user complaining about a certain type of signature (while ignoring similar others) and trying to extrapolate someones motives from such. ![]() EPYC 7V12 / [5] RTX A4000 EPYC 7B12 / [5] RTX 3080Ti + [2] RTX 2080Ti EPYC 7B12 / [6] RTX 3070Ti + [2] RTX 3060 [2] EPYC 7642 / [2] RTX 2080Ti [Edit 2 times, last edit by caitilarkin at Apr 12, 2021 6:29:56 PM] |

So, were now in WCG, and back with the old SETI discussions with credit hounds and WU hoarders, with several computers containing 4-5 or more powerful GPU's, in each computer? Incredible...... I must have missed the rule where people aren't allowed to have multiple GPUs, or put their own money into hobbies they enjoy while helping the project get the results as fast as possible *gasp* Let the project admins lower the credits for a GPU WU to maybe 0.1, and then we'll see how interested you are to continue to crunch GPU WU's here, and support the project. I'll stay though, even if the credit is 0 as it was during the BETA. if it keeps my GPUs busy and operated efficiently, I'll gladly crunch. efficiency is paramount for me. I spend a not insignificant amount of time and money maintaining my hardware for the benefit of these projects. which is why I don't run CPU work for which GPU work exists (wasteful, GPU is much faster and computationally/electrically efficient), and give priority to projects with better optimized applications for my hardware. SETI is and always will be top priority, well optimized applications and the greatest personal interest, but they're done, and likely wont be coming back. GPUGRID is currently the gold standard for my caliber of hardware with well optimized CUDA applications and doing great research, but only provides work intermittently. Einstein's apps are pretty well optimized, but their work/apps gives heavy preference to AMD cards, so I only run them as backup. OP-GPU just released and seems like good research, Since work distribution is slim, I run it as prime#2 with Einstein filling in the gaps. I look forward to better apps optimization and better WU availability ![]() ![]() EPYC 7V12 / [5] RTX A4000 EPYC 7B12 / [5] RTX 3080Ti + [2] RTX 2080Ti EPYC 7B12 / [6] RTX 3070Ti + [2] RTX 3060 [2] EPYC 7642 / [2] RTX 2080Ti [Edit 2 times, last edit by Ian-n-Steve C. at Apr 12, 2021 6:38:35 PM] |

Frank:"WOW, GPU work is really hard to come by on WCG."
----------------------------------------Joe:"Well, how bad is it?" Frank:"It's so bad guys are whipping out their [EDITED]!" Meow.............LOL. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by caitilarkin at Apr 12, 2021 6:30:20 PM] |

What's even more amazing is the fact that the number of points generated per day has doubled.
----------------------------------------I think to recall that an OPN1 WU contains 2 lingands, where as the OPNG WU contains 26 and more. Now there are additional 70,000-80,000 results returned per day... This number multiplied by 13 (26/2) is the amount of results returned before the GPU WUs were launched. This would mean that all GPUs currently working on the OPNG batches, deliver the same amount of computational power all the CPUs together do. ![]() |

I could do that if I was only interested in keeping my GPU busy. I am doing this project because I am interested in contributing to the efforts against COVID. Largely due to the fact that my significant other nearly died from it, and has been fighting it for a month now. I wish your significant other the best of luck. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

She seems to be having some improvement just in the last few days. Just a bit, but any light at the end of the tunnel is great at this point. ![]() |

Thank you to the volunteers in this thread who have posted questions, answers, or comments directly related to the science and technology of GPU work units and OPN.
----------------------------------------I've just had to edit a number of posts for borderline obscene references. There are also multiple posters who are derailing the thread with an ongoing argument that is making it difficult for others to find information about work unit availability. Going forward, anyone who posts words or phrases that are obscene or borderline obscene, or who repeatedly engages in argumentative behavior (as opposed to a calm, professional discussion) will have their posts moderated and will not be able to post directly to the forum. the OPNG WU contains 26 and more. 53 here! https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/...og.do?resultId=1624918667 The latest wu seem are bigger [Edit 3 times, last edit by zdnko at Apr 12, 2021 10:36:32 PM] |

I'm seeing the same thing too. The good thing is that the average credit granted also goes up.
---------------------------------------- The extra minute or two longer on my card wouldn't affect the availability unless it takes almost half a day to complete a single task like what is in gpugrid right now. (Honestly this is a lousy comparison but just to mention it). The task runs so fast on high end gpus that the task generated couldn't catch up with demand. It will be interesting when the task takes several hours to complete each, then supply exceeds demand. ![]() |
