The only strange thing that I noticed is the point system. Most of the time I received 2.6 points per WU, and every once in a while I received 248.6 points per WU. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason why some WU's received 2.6 and others received 248.6 points. Similar here. If have more than 200 successfull results, most request and get only 2.6 points. With the oldest batch 72.8 was requested and granted. ![]() Supporting BOINC, a great concept ! |

The default BOINC install isn't a service install, though. That has to be selected.

The default BOINC install isn't a service install, though. That has to be selected. True for Windows but Linux defaults to a service install. I did not know that. I had no issues getting BOINC to recognise my GPU under Linux. All I had to do was install some dependencies for OpenCL. On a previous computer, several years ago, I had to use the terminal to stop and then start the BOINC client after each boot, otherwise it wouldn't recognise the GPU, but I think this is unrelated (I recall reading that the BOINC client started up "too fast" and adding a delay on boot could solve that). ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz [Edit 1 times, last edit by Falconet at Mar 4, 2021 5:04:14 PM] |

AMD APP SDK 3.0 is installed for using a Radeon HD6670. Must this be deinstalled? IIRC, if you uninstall that, OpenCL applications will not be able to run on your GPU. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

The default BOINC install isn't a service install, though. That has to be selected. Default for Windows is "the same as last time" - it's remembered. A long time ago, the default was 'service' even on Windows, so some old-timers may still have that. But the default for clean installations was changed to 'user' after the release of Windows 7.Linux defaults to a service install ... I had no issues getting BOINC to recognise my GPU under Linux. All I had to do was install some dependencies for OpenCL. Even that is automatic now, with the official NVidia drivers. Can't speak for AMD.On a previous computer, several years ago, I had to use the terminal to stop and then start the BOINC client after each boot, otherwise it wouldn't recognise the GPU, but I think this is unrelated (I recall reading that the BOINC client started up "too fast" and adding a delay on boot could solve that). Still happens. The systemd launcher doesn't wait for the driver/Xserver to load, and BOINC needs those. |

Just an fyi for everyone.
I'm working towards another beta test. This next test will have some minor fixes and some logging changes to the application. The next version is slated to be 7.26 which is currently in alpha testing. I am also working to build additional batches for this to be tests. As for this beta, we have been running the validation program against the results as well as the assimilation program. These are looking like they are in their final form which is great news. Again, Thank you for all your help on the beta test. Thanks, -Uplinger |

One minor thing I spotted in 7.25 - it doesn't seem to update the CPU time since last checkpoint as shown in Properties. I had been looking at that thinking it didn't have checkpointing but after seeing other posts checked in the app directory and they were definitely being created. Is it supposed to update? I just checked an Einstein GPU task and it does update that value even though it is GPU (maybe with more CPU involvement?)?. Anyway it's minor.

As it’s starting as a service it is possible for Boinc to start before the gpu drivers have finished loading and that causes the problem. |
