Since a couple of days, I notice some significant download speed limitations.
----------------------------------------Because I am lucky enough to have 1 Gb/s download available (FO), an ARP WU requires usually about 30 s to download. Now, I come back to the same download duration like the ADSL era, i.e. about 15+ minutes / ARP WU. I speedchecked the Internet connection and everything seems to be fine. My guess is that WCG experiences some bandwidth restrictions internally or on CDN side. Yves, I've checked my latest two ARP1-downloads and I'm seeing no such problem that you describe. The latest one was around 02:50 CET (your timezone), 01:50 UTC.

Sometime there is no speed limitation, sometime it is very slow: below 3 examples of 3 machines.

The default BOINC setting is to download 2 at a time, like this. Start, start, finish, start, finish, start, finish finish. Those that I see 10 "Started download" at the same time, then 10 "Finished download" have probably adjusted the max file transfers?
There is BOINC config to change number of simultaneous download. max_file_xfers and max_file_xfers_per_project. Higher numbers can speed up downloads, but can overload and lag your internet connection if speed is slow. |

I should have tagged the post as [CLOSED].
----------------------------------------At the time, I wrote the post, it was significant limitations which disappeared about 12 hours later. The problem was really a very limited bandwidth, not caused by the 2 download at a time setting. Cheers, Yves |
