Trouble getting a WU to start

Hi there. I'm having trouble getting a WU to start. It's hung up in the "Waiting to run" status. Do you have any advice for how to get it moving?

Thanks.

Re: Trouble getting a WU to start

Check the log for messages (ctrl-shift-e).
May be waiting for memory.
If still stuck suggest restart BOINC once tasks have checkpointed and post first 50 or so lines from log.

Re: Trouble getting a WU to start

I had to do a full restart of my computer. It worked. Tried your suggestion, but it still wouldn't get going. Maybe it's time to replace my 8+ year old laptop soon. Haha!

Thanks for your reply.

Re: Trouble getting a WU to start

Have you tried doing units other than ARP? ARP is high on its system requirements and as you say your laptop is not young. Avoid MIP as well. That still leaves OPN and MCM which are also worthwhile projects.

Re: Trouble getting a WU to start

I'm doing a max of 1 WU for each project at a time, so a pretty decent distribution. My system can normally handle that pretty well.

Re: Trouble getting a WU to start

I have the same problem with Threadripper 1920X system and 48GB of RAM, all ARP's stuck waiting to run. They are tasks I know have been suspended as I was running when idle.

Re: Trouble getting a WU to start

Turns out you can get them to restart by shutting down the BOINC completely and then starting it again. The apps must get stuck running if they are paused by the system.
