Hi all.
----------------------------------------Up till recently I had a WU cache of around 180 on my PC (cpu: AMD Ryzen 3950X, which processes around 460 WU's a day -> 24/7/365). I looked yesterday and the cache had disappeared. Only 32 WU's were running. I didn't change anything, yet that cache was gone. How long ago this happened I don't know. The logs-txt file only shows numbers without date stamps. So.... I tried to reset my cache to my previous settings. That doesn't work. Whether I use local preferences or website preferences (usually I want 1 day extra work) and I click on save, I expect to get extra work. Now: nothing, nada, niente, nichts. What do I do wrong? Have any tips for me to get my former WU-cache back. Regards, Peter. [Edit 2 times, last edit by DE KOMETEN at Dec 29, 2020 3:47:35 PM] |

WUs for which projects? What messages are you getting in you log when you do an update?

Ultimately it’s the server’s decision how much work it sends you, regardless of your cache preferences.
In Event Log options, select sched_ops, then look in your Event Log for messages of the form [World Community Grid] Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks If that is happening, it indicates your client is asking for work but not being sent any. |

@ BladeD: At the moment I run OPN and MCM.
@ Brian Nixon: I see the following text (a small selection of it) 29-12-2020 15:56:20 | World Community Grid | Starting task OPN1_0029389_02763_1 29-12-2020 15:58:29 | World Community Grid | Sending scheduler request: To report completed tasks. 29-12-2020 15:58:29 | World Community Grid | Reporting 18 completed tasks 29-12-2020 15:58:29 | World Community Grid | Not requesting tasks: too many runnable tasks 29-12-2020 15:58:31 | World Community Grid | Scheduler request completed Ehm wot?!?! "too many runnable tasks"? I only have 32 WU's running and no cache... |

29-12-2020 15:58:29 | World Community Grid | Not requesting tasks: too many runnable tasks This is shown when you have > 1000 tasks of WCG in buffer. Have you a button in BOINC Manager - tasks tab "Show all tasks" ? |

too many runnable tasksis an indication that the client thinks it already has over 1000 tasks ready to run, so it will not request any more. If those aren’t appearing in your tasks list, something has gone wrong… (Edit: … or, as Crystal Pellet points out, they are merely hidden because you have selected Show active tasks) How many tasks are listed as In Progress in your Results Status? @ Crystal Pellet & Brian Nixon:
Good questions. As it turns out, I'm a moron I guess for not noticing that The button was pressed for Active tasks and not All tasks... I have my cache back now. Thanks for keeping me sharp Regards, Peter. |
