I have been running WCG since November, 2004 as the only BOINC project on my system. Around Christmas I thought I'd branch out a bit around the end of the year, specifically to add one or more projects that would use my GPU. I added CPUGRID & MINDMODELING but they were not added to my queue (cache). So then I added ROSETTA@HOME, NFS@HOME & MILKEYWAY@HOME. These were added to my queue and only after ALL WCG tasks were cleared did they start to execute.
Those run fine although I wonder about the scheduler at times. Problem is I have received NO additional WCG tasking. I have disabled the CPUGRID & MINDMODELING projects (which never did add anything to the queue) - that did not help. I have 12 threads (6 CPUs) and all 12 are generally active. The new projects do mix in together. Most of the new project work has due dates 5 or more days in the future and all complete in far less time. I have much more disk space available to BOINC than is being used and no network or time-of-day restrictions. I have 32GB of memory and allow 65% to be used How do I get my WCG workload back, short of backing out of the new projects. Or is WCG not compatible with other BOINC projects? |

Some answers:
----------------------------------------Long term BOINC will request tasks from each project to balance "debt". As you have run WCG for a long time and other projects just added, they will run until debt catches up. You can set a ratio in preferences for each project, WCG has it under Cross Project Settings, Project Weight. Some projects allow a limit on tasks to be set (and/or set one). You could selectively set "No New Tasks" for projects to cause others, such as WCG, to load up. WUProp shows stats for those who particpate, below shows which projects have tasks based on reports from those running WUprop. http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/active_projects.py Paul.

On WCG it is near the bottom of the page for the Device Profile in use.

How do I get my WCG workload back, short of backing out of the new projects. Or is WCG not compatible with other BOINC projects? Stop BOINC client and edit the client_state.xml in BOINC's data directory. Replace in that file<rec>x.xxxxxx</rec> by <rec>0.000000</rec>, restart BOINC and all projects will be treaded as if they were just added. |
