We are examining the possiblity of porting it to other platforms as well. However, for right now it is only Linux/x86.

In case it's a factor, I can tell you that we have a *lot* of very powerful hardware that would be cranking out points with a PPC-Linux agent.
If they're working on a Mac (PPC) port, and they've done an x86-Linux port, somewhere between the two it shouldn't be too hard to squeeze out a PPC-Linux port. And I bet it would run (without TOO much difficulty) as an RPM under AIX. That opens up a LOT of test lab hardware ... -Troy |

Kevin when u say x86 and the other forum member says intel only are you both on the "same page" ie my question is does wcg x 86 mean - include amd dual core. i dont expect this to be a problem but i would like to know for sure b4 i buy a box that is 99% for wcg linux client.. i guess i am asking : has anyone out there got it up and runing on amd dual core and with wot distro? cheers |

We are saying x86 becuase that should include all flavors of AMD's chips including the dual core. I just checked our database and nobody has attached with a dual core chip yet so I can't say for certain that it will work, however, I do not see any reason why Linux on a dual core chip wouldn't work. Let us know how it goes!

So now that I've looked into BOINC a bit more, it's clear to me that supporting Linux on PowerPC should be pretty easy.
If WCG just compiled the work unit source for PowerPC, then a PowerPC BOINC agent could download and run it. Ahem... Guinea pig volunteering... :-) |

Is there anything we can do to get the Linux POWER client asap?
