How to get critical information such as progress i.e. % completed and time used using command line

It appears that these info are contained in the section 'active task' of the file 'client_state.xml ' . Is there any command/script to easily extract these out?

Re: How to get critical information such as progress i.e. % completed and time used using command line

if you want to get this information you can use the command 'boinc_cmd --get_state' and this'll print you out a listing of the workunits that your machine is crunching on and estimated CPU time left. The fraction done is before you put it in percentages, so multiply by 100 :) Here is an example:

======== Results ========
1) -----------

You can also utilize the BOINC manager to get a easy view of the current status of the BOINC client.

More info about the BOINC manager is at: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=boinc

The BOINC manager was downloaded with the BOINC client. You can run it by going into the directory where BOINC is installed and executing the 'run_manager' script.

Re: How to get critical information such as progress i.e. % completed and time used using command line

Another solution which is avalible for users to monitor multiple linux BOINC systems is to download BoincView from http://boincview.amanheis.de/?page=download

This is a windows client that'll allow users to view what all their BOINC machines are doing at anytime. It allows users to attach to many BOINC clients using the password stored in "gui_rpc_auth.cfg" file located in the boinc directory on the machine. A note about this is port 1043 and port 31416 are used to retreive information from remote machines. Version 1.2.2 is the stable version at the moment.

Hope this helps.

The BOINC wiki has a lot of great information on it. Feel free to point users to pages that help them.
