Hi together,
I am only contributing for four days now, but though I only opt in for FightAids@home and allowed other tasks if none is available, I only receive other tasks :( I thought FightAids@home ist still in progress? Can anyone help me? Thanks a lot |

Hi,
----------------------------------------This project has been paused and out of work for a month now. It will eventually return but it could be some time (2-3 months at least) per this post. I see you are new here, welcome. The Smash Childhood Cancer project is also out of work but that one could return sooner as the researchers have already sent some work units for the techs at WCG to look at. The Help Stop TB project is running but has very little work (circa 500-600 tasks a day) and the Africa Rainfall Project has some heavy memory requirements, as well as a long runtime and it only checkpoints every 12.5% of progress, which means a restart could result in hours of lost work for an ARP task. OPN1, MCM and MIP all have regular work. AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz [Edit 1 times, last edit by Mosqueteiro at Jul 25, 2020 7:16:11 PM] |

thank you all!
I confess: I was flashed by the lot of entries and found it easier to ask here directly. |

I really don't get it. If it's no longer an active project, why on earth display the project as currently active on the worldcommunitygrid's project status page?

I suppose it could be moved to intermittent status but we know more work is eventually coming (months away, anyway). HSTB was most recently at 140 tasks per day and is probably also headed to 0, at least temporarily.

Right now the only projects with a meaningful number of work units are OPN1, MCM, MIP AND ARP. HST has only a small trickle of work and SCC and FAH2 are entirely shut down. Some of the waning projects may be a temporary result of COVID but a lack of work on these projects has a history that goes back before COVID.
This should not be viewed in a negative light, the scientists came here with questions that they asked our computational resources to help answer and that has been done. The researchers analyze the data that they've received and may come back with a refined set of questions. The way that COVID has shut down virtually the entire world and sickened millions of people and still threatens us all I hope that everyone will feel good about devoting computer power to OPN1. |

Macro - we've seen among several of the projects, issues with obtaining grants. We're gonna have to wait and see when they can get back on track.
----------------------------------------SCC should be back relatively soon - but FAAH2 could take a while. I concur. OPN1 is rightfully being prioritized, given the scale of their work, and the impact of the threat. I look forward to see SCC and FAAH2 back on the front lines against their respective targets, as soon as it is rational for them to do so. In the interim, all we can do is keep crunching, and go from there. |
