Re: Mapping Cancer Markers Beta Test July 8, 2020 [Issues thread]

Got 24 WUs over the past 2 days. All on Linux. These are on Ryzen 3900Xs (power-limited and running at ~3500MHz)

------------------------------------------------------------------------- node01
WUs matching 'BETA_MCM' for World Community Grid in past 48 hours: 8
Total CPU time used: 1d 01h 09min 41s
Min runtime: 03h 07min 18s
Max runtime: 03h 10min 46s
Avg runtime: 03h 08min 42s
WUs by quintile:
<= 03h 07min 59s 3 (37.5%)
<= 03h 08min 40s 2 (25.0%)
<= 03h 09min 21s 1 (12.5%)
<= 03h 10min 02s 0 (00.0%)
<= 03h 10min 46s 2 (25.0%)

------------------------------------------------------------------------- node02
WUs matching 'BETA_MCM' for World Community Grid in past 48 hours: 7
Total CPU time used: 21h 41min 00s
Min runtime: 03h 04min 23s
Max runtime: 03h 08min 01s
Avg runtime: 03h 05min 51s
WUs by quintile:
<= 03h 05min 06s 1 (14.3%)
<= 03h 05min 49s 3 (42.9%)
<= 03h 06min 32s 1 (14.3%)
<= 03h 07min 15s 1 (14.3%)
<= 03h 08min 01s 1 (14.3%)

------------------------------------------------------------------------- node03
WUs matching 'BETA_MCM' for World Community Grid in past 48 hours: 7
Total CPU time used: 22h 18min 09s
Min runtime: 03h 10min 17s
Max runtime: 03h 12min 19s
Avg runtime: 03h 11min 09s
WUs by quintile:
<= 03h 10min 41s 3 (42.9%)
<= 03h 11min 05s 1 (14.3%)
<= 03h 11min 29s 0 (00.0%)
<= 03h 11min 53s 1 (14.3%)
<= 03h 12min 19s 2 (28.6%)

And these two ran on a Ryzen 2700. so they took a little longer (as expected):

------------------------------------------------------------------------- node06
WUs matching 'BETA_MCM' for World Community Grid in past 48 hours: 2
Total CPU time used: 08h 04min 01s
Min runtime: 04h 01min 56s
Max runtime: 04h 02min 05s
Avg runtime: 04h 02min 00s

Finally, for comparison, here's all MCM WUs on one of my nodes over the past 48h (this includes the BETA WUs, but they don't actually skew anything; they're inside my normal distribution).

------------------------------------------------------------------------- node01
WUs matching 'MCM' for World Community Grid in past 48 hours: 116
Total CPU time used: 14d 13h 43min 00s
Min runtime: 01h 59min 12s
Max runtime: 03h 15min 00s
Avg runtime: 03h 00min 53s
WUs by quintile:
<= 02h 14min 21s 17 (14.7%)
<= 02h 29min 30s 0 (00.0%)
<= 02h 44min 39s 0 (00.0%)
<= 02h 59min 48s 0 (00.0%)
<= 03h 15min 00s 99 (85.3%)

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers Beta Test July 8, 2020 [Issues thread]

So, what happened with this Beta test then? Just one batch of 10,000 work units?

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers Beta Test July 8, 2020 [Issues thread]

There is an issue with the performance. I think it is across the board for all platforms but it effects Linux and Mac more severely than Windows. The results from the first batch should be fine and they have been sent to the researchers for verification. I am working on the code update and then it will have to go through a quick alpha test. I hope to have it ready to run the second batch through beta early next week. Thanks to all the beta testers for catching this.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers Beta Test July 8, 2020 [Issues thread]

The beta application has been updated to version 7.57 and the second batch is loading. The only change for this update is the fix for the performance issues that occurred in the previous version.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers Beta Test July 8, 2020 [Issues thread]

Snagged 12 of these new Beta WUs spread over two machines, both Linux (Fedora 32). None finished yet, but appear to be running quite quickly. They are running normally under 'nice' with no significant 'system' component that was evident with the previous Beta.

Edit. All completed - 5 Valid 7 PVal
Intel i7 3770 Av Time 2.11 Hours
Intel i3 3220 Av Time 2.42 Hours

Got 7 of these Beta WUs.
3 for Windows 10 and 4 for Linux on ARM. They are running quite fine.

Got about 40 Beta WUs.
At this time (on-going computation), no problem.

Update on 2020-07-24:
All Beta WUs are valid smile

After 13 years contribution, just missing the 1 year badge for Beta because of 26 hours crying
