Re: OpenPandemics - Monthly Calls with Researchers

I have a few machines committed to the OpenPandemics - COVID-19 project. I'm desperately looking for a more technical explanation of how the Grid does its modelling and how the data is formatted when it's sent to the research team and also, what you folks do with the data that ultimately comes through to the team. In essence a technical end-to-end document.

I definitely get, and buy into pooling our processing resources, but need to be in the loop at a more technical level if possible. In essence not everyone gets off simply from the output of their machines. I think most folks that participate need to understand what the data set entails as well as how their specific data set is contributiong to the solution.

Firstly, is it possible to get more relevant quantitative feedback on the impact of the data based on the research analysis and secondly, could you, in the interim, assist me with some technical material on this front please.

Rgds,

Gary

Twenty millenia of work submitted and I don't recall hearing how it's going at Scripps.

That is of significance to me. How the data is formatted isn't.

Re: OpenPandemics - Monthly Calls with Researchers

Hope we get some kind of update from Scripps and WCG this week.

There was this Forli lab tweet on June 17th.

"More than 10k years of CPU time donated already! Thanks to all the volunteers!
We started processing the results, so stay tuned for updates..." so maybe we'll know something soon.

Re: OpenPandemics - Monthly Calls with Researchers

We just wrapped up the July call with the research team.

1. The work units currently on WCG are all for the first two targets they want to look at. (They are all different formations of one of these two targets.) The data is in their database and they're creating indices to help speed and refine their analyses.
2. They're using a process called reactive docking for the analysis, which helps speed up their work. Reactive docking means that the ligand found the binding site and reacted with it.
3. The scientists have continued to reach out to other scientists working on COVID-19 research--no updates on any formal collaborations yet.
4. They're finishing up their first project update, which will appear very soon on the Forli Lab website. We'll publicize it in this forum when the link is up.
5. They've submitted a paper that mentions both OpenPandemics and WCG, which is under review. (The review process can take months under normal circumstances...and it's taking longer lately.)

Current status of work units:

Available for Download: 5,964 batches
In Progress: 2,157 batches (14,831,896 work units)
Completed: 4,272 batches total - 2,388 batches in the last 30 days - average of 79 batches per day
Estimated backlog: 75 days

Will it be same as the FAH paper that gave IBM the credit and failed to mention we philanthropists???

Are you referring to this one?
