I have been a SETI user for years but have recently joined WCG. Having downloaed the new software, I notice that every time I start up the laptop, it is missing in my system tray and have to reinstall to get it back.

Thanks for the reply. No. It's not in the hidden icons and the switch to auto-sart boinc is set. Just doesn't seem to work. I was hoping that it might just have been working in the background but when I logged onto this site I can see my computer hasn't returned a result since Friday.

Just a thought, but there are some Utility Programs and Anti-Virus programs that have a "Startup Manager" type section where one can mark certain programs to not auto-start. If you have any programs like that, you might want to look at them.

You could also try a complete uninstall (using a tool like Iobit Uninstaller or Revo Uninstaller) and then install again.

The auto-start is finnicky. Under "Options" --> "Option options..." try unselecting "Run manager at login?" then exiting BOINC, rebooting the computer completely. BOINC should still not auto-start (obviously). Then re-open BOINC and go back and select "Run manager at login?" Then gracefully exit BOINC (File, Exit), then reboot the entire computer.
----------------------------------------Sounds tedious, but I read somewhere (maybe the BOINC GitHub or maybe a forum somewhere) that that is how it gets those settings to "stick."
