My apologies for cross-posting, but I want this program off my computer, and I want it off NOW.
My computer hasn't slowed down since I installed it. I can hear the hard drive whirring away constantly, and since my computer is in my bedroom this is driving me absolutely bonkers. Problem is, the damned thing won't let me uninstall it. It shows up in my add/delete programs guy, but won't let me delete because the program is running, and there is NO WAY for me to turn the program itself off. Unless I'm missing something incredibly obvious. I've tried right clicking on the system tray icon, fiddling in the main window, deleting from the task manager, EVERYTHING. I really, really, really hate this. Any suggestions? |

Remove the program from "Start -> Program Files -> Startup" and reboot. I checked myself on my work computer to make sure it wasn't set to run at start by registry, the only way it runs on a reboot is through the Startup folder, unless you go out of your way to make it otherwise.
----------------------------------------Also, in Task Manager, it is both "WCGrid_Rosetta.exe" *AND* "UD.EXE" ... you have to stop them both. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 19, 2004 4:09:25 PM] |

No edit button? Meant "wasn't set to run in the registry", not "was"
----------------------------------------EDIT: NVM, found the EDIT button... but now I can't seem to delete this post, tells me I have entered the wrong password, meh. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 19, 2004 4:10:00 PM] |

Mine actually was starting up whenever I turned on the computer, and I wasn't able to find the option to turn it off.
Either way, "UD.exe" did the trick in turning off the program, and I was able to uninstall, so thanks very much. Maybe I'll try this again when my computer isn't within four feet of me at all hours of the day. |

If your HD was being accessed all the time, sounds like you were constantly hitting the page file..as in not enough memory.

According to the Help button, to uninstall, right click toolbar icon, select exit [this stops processes per TaskManager] and uninstall in usual way.

Most likely the sound is NOT coming from your HDD, its most probably coming from the heat activated CPU fan. This program does not acess the drive a lot, see the HDD light on your computer, if its always on then something else is keeping your HDD busy.
