The other day, Uplinger was talking about increasing units to 6000 per day. I presume that as the quorum is 2 that actually means 12000 units to crunch instead of 8000.
However, we are only returning 6000 at present, so I assume that will mean units will be available more often although still random. Mike |

A work unit is a unique task. Each work unit can be replicated for various reasons, and those are known as results. So 6000 work units/day @ Quorum 2 is minimum 12,000 available results per day. I'd gotten into the habit of treating WCG results as "work units" in my head, since that's all my devices actually see. (_0, _1, etc.) but apparently that's wrong.

We just had our July call with the research team.
1. We're going to increase the speed of work units to volunteers again in the next few weeks. The techs will post in the forum with more details when they do this. 2. They discussed a minor issue with the directory that holds work to be downloaded to the researchers. The issue has been resolved and we have a plan to make sure it doesn't happen again. 3. The researchers are keeping an eye out for any upcoming (virtual) academic conferences. Most are in a state of flux--this is what we're hearing from all the scientists we work with at this point. 4. They're starting to look for additional help with the data processing. Finding someone will probably take at least a few months. |

I really appreciate all the updates you give us for all the projects Caitlin. Would it be possible for you to include for all projects particularly this project how many results get sent back to the researchers at a time and how big the file is? E.g. how many gigabytes or terabytes. If you're not able to give us exact numbers estimate would be great. I am just curious about this sort of information. Thanks
