We had a quick call with the research team today.
1. The speed of the project will remain the same for now. 2. The research team has created enough work to probably last for several months at the present rate. Staying at the present rate gives them enough time to analyze data as they receive it from us. 3. The researchers discussed planning for conferences in 2020, which is difficult to do right now due to the spread of COVID-19 and conference cancellations. They're hoping to be able to resume attendance at conferences to discuss the project with other scientists later this year. |

We just wrapped up our monthly call with the research team.
1. We discussed work unit supply. At the present rate the WCG developers believe that we have a good backlog and won't be running out of work in the near term. (Given that we're getting a larger than usual number of new volunteers every day, it's difficult to give an estimate of how long this backlog will last.) 2. A few weeks ago there was a transfer issue with a small number of work units. The research team confirmed that they now have all the work units that were impacted, so the issue has been cleared up. 3. They've submitted an abstract to a conference where they'd like to present about the project (virtually) in September. We'll let everyone know if their submission is accepted. As with most other events these days (including virtual events), this conference may be subject to rescheduling or cancellation. |

(Given that we're getting a larger than usual number of new volunteers every day, it's difficult to give an estimate of how long this backlog will last.) Since it is limited to 8000 per day, don't we sort of know how long it will last? |

It all depends on how many desert ARP for Open Pandemics. To compensate, they might be able to abandon the random release.
They did at one point say that the flow would increase at some stage. Mike |

We just finished a quick monthly call with the research team.
1. The work unit supply and storage are both stable at this point. We're going to look into increasing the workflow rate, and will post an update if we change it. 2. The conference that they wanted to present at in September has been fully cancelled--there will be no virtual conference to substitute for the in-person event. 3. They are keeping an eye on other conferences in their field to submit presentations for next year. |
