Bumping this so hopefully an employee can see:
----------------------------------------uplinger said: The createWork is what loads it into BOINC databases. Since BOINC requires xml to be stored in the database, we usually keep this buffer at about 48 hours to assist in keeping the database quick. But again, for this project we do something a bit different...we load a set number of results per half hour to artificially slow the project down. (Again, we hope to get this up to full speed in the future, which would be 30+k workunits in the wild at one time. 60+k results since redundancy) Can't wait til 60k or more results are distributed at a time. Do you have a rough estimate on when this sub-project can ramp up?

Hi Sgt.Joe,
----------------------------------------thank you for your advice, I will give it a try. @Mike.Gibson: I'm familiar with WCG and my hosts work full time, fine, and reliably, but just crunching for MCM and a little bit for MIP, from time to time for HSTB as well. In all cases, an ARP1 WU takes on the most recent machine about 14 hours, and on the oldest machine about 25 hours. Cheers, Yves |

I have received 13 ARP units so far, but none at all since December 9. They all ran on the same four core Linux box, and all took 14 to 16 hours and were returned quickly. I'm just wondering if something changed so that my machine isn't favoured by the project anymore.
----------------------------------------I don't want to set it up so that one core is idle a lot of the time. Four cores isn't a lot to play with. Edit: I spoke too soon. I just got two ARP units! ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by D_S_Spence at Dec 16, 2019 9:23:07 PM] |

Yes, the supply is random and there are many more chasing them than there are units available. I assume that you want to run arp1, mcm1 & mip1 but want to keep all 4 threads occupied full time. If so I would suggest that you set the number for each project at 2 in Device Profiles. mcm1 & mip1 seem to be available all the time and by setting them to a total of 4 will keep all 4 cores fully occupied and your machine will update regularly to give you a chance of picking up the occasional arp1. It should update within seconds of completing a unit, so you would only lose a minute or 2 per day. When I suggest 2+2, you could just as easily split 1+3 or 3+1 as you wish. Mike |

Well, I do kind of find it rather ironic, when I receive my weekly WCG e-mail, stating that I'm "only around 22 days away from my Silver ARP badge", when I haven't received a ARP WU for 12 days....
----------------------------------------Oh well, it'll come, when it comes.... ![]() |

There was an old joke about London buses how you would have to wait for ages for a bus and then several would arrive at once.
That seems to be how things are with arp1 units. I get none for days and then several in a couple of hours. Mike |

There was an old joke about London buses how you would have to wait for ages for a bus and then several would arrive at once. Mike, I hope you're right - as I've just picked up 1 on my quicker machine - just about to 'kck it off' right now That seems to be how things are with arp1 units. I get none for days and then several in a couple of hours. Mike ![]() Mike, you WERE right - on my quickest machine, I've now got THREE ARP WU's - the max I've set for each of my machines (now, just need some to arrive on my slower machine) ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by gb009761 at Dec 18, 2019 4:43:21 PM] |

I notice that the 001 units are not coming in numerical order like 000 did. Presumably they are in the order of return of the 000's.
