WUs nowadays are a bit hit or miss for me. I'm finishing up two ARP1 WUs I got last week after waiting about a week to get anything. I'm also working on HST1 project, and similarly only getting WUs about once per week. In between I'm filling in with other projects to have something running on my laptop from time to time. When WSG isn't sending me anything, I'm just working on my efforts to get a new job.

Interesting, I just got 3 ARP WUs after starving my machine for work by slowing/halting work on other projects and only requesting 2 WUs per non-ARP WCG project at a time. I had a single cpu core sit idle for a couple of hours and then 3 ARP WUs showed up.
----------------------------------------Estimated time to get them done is about 20 hours on an I7-3770, limited to 7 tasks but 100% cpu time. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by flensr at Dec 9, 2019 6:40:00 PM] |

I think that as long as projects are configured with large and generally unavailable work units, overall participation in WCG will decline. Has anyone analysed the growth of desktop CPUs vs mobile device CPUs involvement in WCG?
I have stopped manipulating my servers to seek work units frequently as it is just too time consuming. So, bluntly, if you do not want my participation, you will not get it. |

I think that as long as projects are configured with large and generally unavailable work units, overall participation in WCG will decline. I am getting my usual supply of MCM and MIP. It is not surprising that ARP is in short supply. My hope is that the other climate studies will come online soon. ARP was not supposed to be the only one. |

My PC has been set to receive WUs for all projects for over a week. Since I did that I have not received a single ARP. Hope this isn't going to morph into another AfricanClimate@Home.

There is a supply of arp1 but it isn't nearly enough to give 1 per machine per day (only about 1800 per day). At that rate it will take many years to finish.
We have just finished the first phase with another 180+ phases to go. Hopefully the project will speed up. Mike |

----------------------------------------The createWork is what loads it into BOINC databases. Since BOINC requires xml to be stored in the database, we usually keep this buffer at about 48 hours to assist in keeping the database quick. But again, for this project we do something a bit different...we load a set number of results per half hour to artificially slow the project down. (Again, we hope to get this up to full speed in the future, which would be 30+k workunits in the wild at one time. 60+k results since redundancy) Can't wait til 60k or more results are distributed at a time. Do you have a rough estimate on when this sub-project can ramp up?

I noticed I'm now getting the 001 work units.

Some 001's already returned. So we are 0.5% through the project. I'll be dead before it finishes!
