Thank you for the detailed update. Looking forward to seeing these validations of results completed and more work units flowing.

It is nice to see information flowing again. I thank all who have participated with questions and answers.
----------------------------------------I would like to inquire about the " 3 extremes in generations 14, 16 & 17" mentioned by Mike. They would appear to be lost Hopefully they would not take up much storage if they were found and processed. [Edit 1 times, last edit by sptrog1 at Jan 4, 2023 6:31:11 PM] |

If they are restricted as to how many units that they can send on to Delft, I would have thought this was a good time to get those ultra extremes moving or they will get even further behind, dragging the project out.

Agreed, but I wonder how trivial it would actually be for them to do that...Mike It would be interesting to know what sorts of fine control (if any) are available to the WCG techs without them having to do deep dives into various databases and/or archived log files to try to work out the current state of the various cells within given generations... What's happening at present is quite likely to be the automatic system response :-) Hopefully, there are already some tools available to let them find the cell numbers and the restart data for those three tasks, along with a mechanism for forcibly creating the relevant new work units (with other WU generation turned off to avoid buffer issues?) -- if not, then I hope Kevin left them some notes on how to restart a stalled cell's work-unit(s)... Here's hoping that they can get them moving, and that the resulting tasks go to machines that process them within 24 hours. Then it's more or less "rinse and repeat" until they catch up :-) Cheers - Al [Edit 1 times, last edit by alanb1951 at Jan 5, 2023 10:33:55 PM] |

It all depends on why they are only sending out normal units and a subset of them. Judging from what they are sending, it should be possible for them to send out generations 14, 16 & 17 and other extremes.
If they are actually stuck then they could try what Kevin successfully did which was to reduce the time step from 36 seconds to 24 seconds for a few generations and then go back to 36 seconds once they were past the problem. It may be that those in generations need to be kept at 24 seconds for the duration if the topography of those patches is causing them to stop. Mike |

Yes it could be the issues described by Al and Mike it could also be down to the situation in regards to having to drop the number of download connections to the server described by half yesterday by chiara.p in the Mapping Cancer Markers Forum

I was ahead of you. I had taken account of the low quantity and was suggesting that those earlier generations (extremes) should be the ones to be sent rather than normals - unless there are problems, and I made a suggestion as to how to overcome that. Mike |

On this Saturday, my newest device - that has been returning results since 28 December and isn't showing up in Device Management yet - was treated with two new ARP1-tasks. They are both new workunits, generated today, and belong to the Accelerated category according to state.txt (generations 128 - 132 currently). One of them seems to have a problem as the first two copies of the workunit errored out with the same error; I will report this one in the thread "Error: SIGSEGV: segmentation violation, process exited with code 193 (0xc1, -63)". The other one has already finished on my device and claimed 73.7 credit:
