I still have one pending ARP left. I hope someone good on the forum has this one now. https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/233743526 I think it was someone who posted this. Based on your workunit I found their devicename: server.bordo.com.au Matching the devicename with their membername was quite easy after Google showed this article, this article and this one, linking Mac, BOINC and their username. This stats site did the rest. [Edit 2 times, last edit by adriverhoef at Jan 2, 2023 6:33:35 PM] |

wow that is some amazing detective work. Reminds me I need to be careful of the breadcrumb trail I'm leaving .
![]() Well I was hoping everyone was back to work today at WCG and that we might get more ARP. I shortened my queue of MCM in anticipation of more ARP, but alas I haven't gotten any. Good news is that I'm still crunching on MCM even with no WUs in waiting. 200/365 on the way to MCM year badge. |

Jan 1 is a public holiday in Canada (as in most countries) so probably carried over to Jan 2 if they don't work on a Sunday.
Keep on crunching whatever you can. I am nowhere near another badge, except possibly SCC if that ever comes back. Mike |

Are special capabilities required to crunch Extreme or Accelerated WUs?
Are they likely to hang in the hopper due to their size? Are they being distributed as we speak? I see that the Sunday report is a bit more rosey. |

All ARP1 units are about the same size. Crunchers are given 6 days to crunch normal units, 3 days to crunch accelerated units and 3 to crunch extremes, but there is a third cruncher given extreme units to speed them up. This was intended so that those in earlier generations would catch up to those in later generations. There are 3 extremes in generations 14, 16 & 17 otherwise known as ultras which have been stuck there for some time.
IBM only issued accelerated and extremes to faster machines. I don't know if Krembil are doing the same. However, since the restart there have been a high proportion of No Replies, despite the shortage of units. The units are much bigger to download and to crunch and are unsuitable for machines that are not on 24/7 because the checkpoints are only every 12.5% and switching off means the loss of anything after the last checkpoint. They take about 10 x the time of other units to crunch and should be restricted to about half the available threads unless you have a large amount of RAM because they would otherwise slow the machine down. Other projects can occupy the other threads. Unfortunately, Krembil do not communicate the problems they, or Delft, have been having. Mike |

I see the logic of extremes etc. and see hope in your explanation of the situation.
I think the fate of the lost WUs in younger generations should be brought to the attention of the mother ship, investigated (see my post under suggestions), and solved beyween Delft and Keembil. |

The problem is that we don't know why so many of the extrmes are not moving. Is there a problem with them? There has been in the past and IBM got them moving again. Is it that Delft can't cope with more results? Quite possibly! Is it that Krembil can't cope with more? Again possibly, especially since the download problem - we don't know whether they solved that or that throttling back ARP enabled downloads to speed up.

Note that is is possible to receive an ARP extreme with a 1.5 day deadline. I received one a couple of months ago and had to pause another task to fast track the ARP.

Don't you think some one of authority should know the answer to your conjecture.. Either Delft or Krembil. Could you urge thrm to tell you? |
