Re: OpenZika Project Update - July 2019 (News on Project Ending)

I've received units up to 462xxx so we're flying along. Hopefully I'll receive my next badge in about 3 calendar days so all is well :)

@Robokapp I am guessing you mean 10/13 since it is the 14th in UTC time. The latest batch I have from work I downloaded on the 13th UTC time is batch 460927

Really sad to see it end so soon. Didn't get to 50 year badge and also with SCC at a halt, my Android devices will be pretty idle for a while I suspect.

Just received WU 463195. We're really speeding to the end now!

Re: OpenZika Project Update - July 2019 (News on Project Ending)

I think it is wonderful that everyone including myself who lends their expensive computer hardware for the betterment of humanity. I am here because I feel that no parent or child should have to suffer in life with a disease like Zika through no fault of their own.
Some of us are here for badge hunting and this is your choice. I am here to use my hardware to aid in the effort to find solutions for the benefit of humanity.
I wished that was a WCG and other BOINC projects promotional campaign among the computer gaming community and universities with their high end computer hardware to aid in the effort in solving issues like Zika for the benefit of humanity as a whole.

Yes, I feel that of course that is what really matters. But if your're crunching anyway then one might as well get a few badges just to get an abstraction to also feel that you are actually making a difference.

Like, getting a 50 year badge notification and seeing it makes me happy because I know that yes, I have actually contributed 50 CPU years that won't have to be crunched elsewhere. Getting a feel of achievement like that makes one also go look if one can upgrade some machine or something to be able to do more.

Agreed, there are many reasons people crunch, kudos to all. smile
