I usually have my browser open at the same time, with many tabs open In my opinion this may not be the source of the problem. So, in this case more memory may not solve the problem. I did an experiment on one of my systems by opening enough tabs in my browser to try to max out my memory (43 tabs) and BOINC still used 100% cpu. I did get it up to using 95% of the available memory(4gb). You certainly could try more memory, but I would try to identify the process which is using the cpu resource that is not one of your BOINC tasks. In Task Manager you should see some other process using about 23 to 24% of your cpu, other than the work units. Good luck. Cheers

I have 4 GB of RAM, and virtual memory which is double what Windows 10 recommends. The only other process that uses lots of CPU power is whichever web browser I am using. For now, I seem to have solved the problem by limited my BOINC to 75% of the available CPUs, so I only run three projects instead of four, but at least each of them will complete properly without suddenly dropping to 1% CPU usage. Thanks.

Thanks. One other thought occurs to me. You may have one core which is periodically overheating when running at 100%. Decaying thermal paste or just a defective core maybe. I realize I am grabbing at straws here, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Cheers
