Wow, thank you Highwind! I wish I can afford to swap out my 1950x for the 2990WX. I have a 8086K, 1800X and 8750H CPU. I can't wait for this monster to arrive. |

If I blow £1600 on a processor and my wife finds out - not very long ![]() So, you know what you have to do....don't let her find out! ![]() You only live once. DO IT! But buy her something nice too. If she puts you in the dog house, the computer will heat it very well. laughing I think Blade and Bear should buy you one to keep you out of trouble. ![]() ![]() |

I am thinking of swapping out my AMD EPYC 7401P build for a 2990WX build. Would appreciate anyone with a TR 2 build posting some crunching numbers and whether they are using Windows or Linux (I run Linux on my 3 crunchers right now).
I am not happy with my current output of my EPYC build. My i9 7980XE build blows it out of the water and my E5-2683 v3 build's PPD is about the same as the EPYC build. |

I can't see it being much better than a 2700x. Depending on the memory needs of the app, some cores could end up slower than 2700x w/o direct memory access.

fwiw, cpubenchmark.net has the TR 1950X at 22,180, the TR 2990WX at 20,930 and your Epyc 7401P at 18,546. my lowly R5 1600 gets a 12,271, but at $149.99 its performance per $ is very good, and it's not a power hog, so easy on the electric bill
