On this second day of July we'll pay some attention to the chart of 02-07-1977. A new entry at number 30 in the Dutch Top 40: Lucifer -- Selfpity.
You may ask, what does Lucifer mean? Curious as it may sound, 'lucifer' is Dutch for 'match' (you know, a little wooden stick that you find in matchboxes).
When the group disbanded in 1978, singer Margriet Eshuijs started a solo career and the group changed their name to ... Match.
And you may also wonder why they write 'Selfpitty' (with a double T) in that video of Selfpity. The answer: ... I don't know. Someone made a typo, probably. Well, maybe more than a typo.
