Base Camp will begin a trek to top40.nl on July 1.
----------------------------------------I have suggested we shall let the trek run for the entire month of July and install a rotating door ... We have two important days to celebrate: July 4 - Independence Day in the USA July 14 - Bastille Day in France. We will make them peak dates and see if we can make spikes. Do you know other important dates in July, adriverhoef? Also, I wondered if you could be made feel like joining a couple of challenges during July? That would add some extra spice to the entire trek, I think. [Edit 1 times, last edit by ErikaT at Jun 28, 2018 11:20:00 AM] |

De ringer vi spiller ~ Ze noemen ons spelen Do I hear you say "They call us games"? ![]() Peanutbutter. In Dutch: pindakaas. Slightly interesting fact about the origin of the Dutch word for 'peanutbutter'. The fact that it is NOT called "pindaboter", which would be a literal translation of peanutbutter, is the fact that the Dutch word "boter" (butter) is protected by law for products made of churned milkcream containing at least 82% milkfat. Since peanutbutter does not meet this criteria, the term butter is not allowed to be used for it in the Netherlands. The laws stipulate several protected names for butter-like products, but the minimum percentage is about 20% milkfat. Below that, there is no official name, so usually, when these products need to be named, they are often just called after a product to put on bread. In the video above, directly skip to: Boterkrump caninmarch. Pindakaas. [Edit 1 times, last edit by ErikaT at Jun 28, 2018 11:20:49 AM] |

Do I hear you say "They call us games"? Certainly not with my good will, Adri ![]() It should say: ’They call us names’ You know what I mean … Would this be better? Ze noemen ons muziek spelen Would you believe it? We have struggled with similar butter restrictions. We have all kinds of names now. One new one out just this week: Smørprodukt – butter product; this is an Aldi thing with garlic or herbs ![]() Well, both our countries are dairy ones. I don’t know if you tied your foreign politics to butter and bacon to the extent we did in order to protect our export to the UK. Did you? Or did you eat it all yourself? Years back it wasn’t even allowed to make butter spreadable directly from the refrigerator … ... toughcompetion has changed that. Did you join challenges? I'll run and check [Edit 1 times, last edit by ErikaT at Jun 28, 2018 11:21:03 AM] |

Do I hear you say "They call us games"? Certainly not with my good will, Adri ![]() It should say: ’They call us names’ You know what I mean … Would this be better? Ze noemen ons muziek spelen Let's have another look: Ze noemen ons muziek = They call us music. Spelen = 'to play' (we/wij spelen = we play) or 'games' (Olympische Spelen = Olympic Games). Originally we had "Men vraagt en wij draaien". Vragen = to ask. Noemen = to name, to call. Men ~ equal to the French 'on' and translates to 'one' or people/they: Men zegt dit en dat = People say this and that. It would also help if you'd add a comma. Let's try some variations: Ze noemen ons muziek, spelen = They call us music; play! Ze noemen ons muziek spelen = They call us 'play music' Ze noemen ons, muziek spelen = They call us, play music. Have you noticed that there's something else missing? ![]() |

Yes, I have noticed a whole lot missing ....
And ErikaT and her team were kind enough to e-mail me which I mentioned in a Base Camp post. Did you get any briefing, Adri? - about the rest Do you know a program called 'De ringer vi spiller'? It would better the entire affair if they added a comma 'De ringer, vi spiller' We Are Danish Dynamite I throw my towel into the ring otherwise ..... I'm glad that both of us speak sufficiently English to understand each other ![]() |

No, although I understand that it is the Danish version of "Men vraagt en wij draaien" (the Dutch radio programme that ran on Radio Veronica till 31-08-1974, the day the music died). |

Yes, I did too, and I understood and appreciated the notice. A much better approach in my opinion. I even suggested a new header while we were at it to prevent further and/or future misinterpretations, and that was accepted .... call me a ratter! To repeat myself: Communication is the salt of the earth. No, although I understand that it is the Danish version of "Men vraagt en wij draaien" Exactly. Our version had a lot of conversation between the music - requested by the caller - played, and the callers were asked a question; the correct answer would be rewarded with a gift. There were easy questions (and they were easy, I assure you) and there were difficult ones (and they were not all that difficult). The level was decided by Ms Clock - the perpetual time indicator. Seven - twentytwo - zero-zero DOOOT! Seven - twentytwo - zero-five DOOOT! Even times - even seconds - were the easy ones. All of the caller's neighborhood's brain power was summoned to the caller's home in case Ms Clock landed on an uneven In many ways it was quite cute. Don McLean is so good. Let's have one more ♥ And I Love You So ♥ |

The top40.nl 2.0 trek has commenced.
----------------------------------------Meet Carol Beer. She is working in a hospital at the frontdesk. Part 1 She is played by David Walliams. On this first of July let's also pay some attention to the chart of 01-07-1972. A new entry at number 22 in the Dutch Top 40: Sandy Coast -- Summertrain. Added: the sleeve of the vinyl single: ![]() [Edit 4 times, last edit by adriverhoef at Jul 3, 2018 12:29:36 PM] |
