----------------------------------------https://www.kingoapp.com/root-tutorials/how-to-root-android-7.0-7.1-nougat.htm Rooting is the first step to customise your device. Without rooting absolutely 'extraordinary' nothing is possible. Yes your warranty becomes void after that. So what?? You can always get it back after unrooting it. So chill. No matter where you read that its very risky or something like that, I'll say refrain from going to those sites. They are just putting unnecessary fear into your mind. Most probably they fear you could make your device function better than them. So lets go on with it. I've made it simple for you. Just follow the steps. I can't find nativeBOINC in the Play Store any more. Can I install the APK without rooting the phone now?

Hi,
So what is the consensus? How do I change my host name on Android 7 phone? Without root possibly. Thanks |

How do I change my host name on Android 7 phone? Without root possibly. You can try this if your Android version is old and compatible: http://nativeboinc.org/site/for_users/userhints I found the UI more complicated, so I didn't bother... but I might try again as I'm having a hard time tracking all 15 of my Android phones. |

I thought native boinc only worked on android 5.x and earlier. I could be mistaken though.

I thought native boinc only worked on android 5.x and earlier. I could be mistaken though. Won't work on android 5 at all, needs to be no greater than 4.4. In any case, I found that I couldn't attach WCG using Native boinc. Pete ![]() |

Maybe there's an 'outdated' in the system requirements, note 3.

All the device names say "android", so I don't know which smartphone is contributing. I have 4 android devices running more or less 24 hours. They are all different brands, one 8 core smartphone, and three 4-core tablets. I can tell how each of them are individually performing by going to the BOINCstats page , entering my name, and then navigating through to the page that says "number of hosts" (this has to be set up as not hidden when you set up your BOINC app). There I can easily identify which android devices are which, by the detailed CPU and Android versions that are listed alongside their daily stats. If all your devices are identical in CPU, you could install a diferent version of Android to help you tell which is which. Click here to see what I see. It would be great if WCG could emulate this in their own stats page, as it would help us with identifying problems with our Android devices a lot quicker. ![]() [Edit 4 times, last edit by Glen David Short at Dec 3, 2018 12:17:21 AM] |
