well that update didn't really say anything relevant, like no details, nothing for us project volunteers to really read about... it had like no substance to it

It isn't abnormal for papers to take 6 months or a year before getting published. So the fact that the updates only mentioned that isn't surprising as most research feels very slow.

well that update didn't really say anything relevant, like no details, nothing for us project volunteers to really read about... it had like no substance to it 1) Writing papers means FA@H2 is contributing science to the world, which is an indicator of meaningful progress achieved through the cooperative effort of scientists and crunchers, and 2) You should be VERY glad YOU don't have to write papers!!! Our work as crunchers is way, way, WAY easier than the work of the project's scientists! [Edit 1 times, last edit by Papa3 at Nov 21, 2018 4:00:18 AM] |

But still we should receive regular updates on what's going on with past experiments that were finished with crunching, and information on upcoming projects, and just in general being told what's up... it's not too much to ask to see at least one update a month, but we are seeing barely anything relevant or actionable

But still we should receive regular updates on what's going on with past experiments that were finished with crunching, and information on upcoming projects, and just in general being told what's up... it's not too much to ask to see at least one update a month, but we are seeing barely anything relevant or actionable Monthly is WAY too frequent. You would be seeing updates like: "April saw 37 gazillion CPU hours of steady crunching, moving the Mega-Molecule-Library from 38% complete to 51% complete." Science is "chunky" or "bursty", whichever you prefer. Months of tedious drudgery, with infrequent rushes of insightful revelation. And then papers have to be written to deliver packages of insightful revelations, which is a royal PITA and also requires secrecy prior to the moment of publication. Once the papers are published, ginormous loads of highly relevant & fascinating update will appear shortly thereafter. |

ok I get it papers have to be written, but it doesn't take much to find 5 minutes of time to write an update for us. This project had dozens of experiments completed in the past so updates and forward looking statements can be shared with us. Like I said regardless of papers being written it's not too much to ask to find 5 minutes of time to share updates with us.... especially since we are donating computing power which we are paying for when we pay our electric bill every month.... it's not too much to ask

so today is World Aids Day, December 1st... and not a word or mention from the project scientists... NOTHING
Remember when the project used to post newsletters and updates , and give us insights, especially around world's aids day each year ?? what happen to all that ??? when you look at the original FAAH website http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/ you can see video updates and newsletters... matter of fact this was Volume 12 update http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/images/FAAHvol12.pdf ... released in 2013... that's 5 years ago... why aren't we seeing any more newsletters or regular updates, yet we are contributing so much of our computer's work and electricity to this project ??? it doesn't see fair that we are kept in the dark and hear from projects scientists once in a blue moon... something needs to change or more people will drop out of contributing to this project |
