Hi Everyone,
----------------------------------------I recently noticed that Outsmart Ebola has December 2014 to June 2018 on the Research Index page... Not sure why or what that means, is it a goal? Is it the project's funding deadline? Hopefully someone who's been paying better attention to the news will know! Sorry if it's an entirely ignorant questions but I saw no mention within the project news and found nothing on the forums about it... Thanks for any clarity on the matter! Tmanok (Cosmic Computing)

Hi Tmanok,
----------------------------------------I certainly wouldn't hold that date as 'hard and fast', as, has been mentioned numerous times across various different threads, the calculations behind that date depends on various things (such as the size of batches, the speed they're being processed and the number of batches WCG knows about etc.), and as such, could well move quite considerably. The only way we'll know exactly when a project finishes, is when the project scientists behind it have confirmed that it's completed (i.e., they've got no more work to send through to WCG). Generally, the WCG techs do put out a "30 day" notice (or thereabouts), warning everyone that that particular project is coming to an end. |

June 2018 is the estimated date when all currently known workunits should be finished based on the current rate of processing.
----------------------------------------But for OET1 we know that the last 200 batches will be very large, so the rate will certainly decrease and we can expect the end to be postponed by a few months. |

Yes, the OET1 is about to run out of data in June. It's a known news.
----------------------------------------Then the researchers will analize the data, so the project won't end. Only our part on WCG will end, unless they decide to get new date to work on. But, as it's OET1...maybe we're up for a OET2 in the future? Here's my tracking of ECD for all projects: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=561692 ;) |

No Apology necessary, but you can send me one of those computers (with a good graphics card).

Batch numbers for this project have been all over the place.
Latest batch I have is 5347, but I've seen higher and much lower all week. If it proceeds linearly from today's batch we would have about a hundred batches left. I remember a year or two ago OET was marked at eighty-eight percent with an even quicker ECD. So who knows! |

That's odd, because initially there were ~5200 total batches known.
----------------------------------------They are not issued incrementally but out of order since the beginning. AFAIR, a year ago there were batches with a significantly different size issued, which caused the estimated end to go up, but that lasted only few weeks. |

The last announced batch number was something like 5460, IIRC.
